[Tournament] RACE #3 - Final Showdown!

I think lettucemode is going to end up winning playing 3 games :stuck_out_tongue:

Heā€™s not eligible for best win % unless he wins a 4th game, but the others donā€™t have that restrictionā€¦

sickened by a lot of things, i drop from this tourney.
my only and final curiosity is why i got to play PPA a lot less than DNF.
imo makes no sense

I would guess itā€™s simply random chance. With pairings this complex, I would imagine itā€™s difficult to keep the matchups even and EricF just flips a coin each time. Of the games you finished 4 were DNF and 2 were PPA, which is close to even (the probability of getting a 3/3 split is only 31.25%, so uneven numbers are the rule, rather than the exception). I can empathise with you, as Iā€™ve been first player in only 2 of my 10 games, but thereā€™s no conspiracy, just random coin flips.

tru, but i am not complaining about going first/second. just means i will submit only 1 deck from now on.

Specifically, I generated all the matches at the same time (with perfectly balanced deck/first player splits), put them in a random order, and have been assigning them approximately from the top down. I wonā€™t be using that method next time.

I wonder why I have no new game to play ? For what I know I have finished all my RACE games in time  (and for the very same reason Iā€™m surprised that cstick, as a tortoise, had the possibility to play 11 games, ie more than any Hare could ever play)

Well, @Mooseknuckles hasnā€™t posted in his game with you. And everyone could play up to 28 games, depending on how quickly they finished.

Where are my games then? I finished all mine super quick.

Iā€™d be happy to play you again, bomber

No, no more demonology. Iā€™m sick of demonology.

I donā€™t think itā€™s a coincidence that I won every game that was not against demonology pretty handily, and got crushed in every game where my opponent was demonology.

This is accurate, except for the match you lost to Martoā€™s White Finesse deck.

Oh yes, fair point, though that is under acceptable parameters; Marto is really good

All games have now had their threads initiated. The erroneously scheduled PiHalbe vs Bomber game is officially cancelled. As we finish up the last stretch, here are the games to watch:

RACE #3: Mooseknuckles ([Past]/Peace/Balance) vs. EricF ([Demon]/Necro/Bashing)

If Mooseknuckles wins this match, it knocks EricF down to 82% win rate, and opens up the ā€œbest win rateā€ slot. However, if EricF wins (and lettucemode doesnā€™t go undefeated) then the ā€œbest win rateā€ slot will go to the highest non-invited player insteadā€¦

RACE 3: Mooseknuckles ([Past]/Peace/Balance) vs. Marto (Mono Blue)

Mooseknuckles needs to win this match as well to make it into the top 4, but if he can win both of his open matches to finish 8-1 that will all but guarantee him a spot for ā€œbest win rateā€

RACE #3: Jadiel (Mono Purple) vs. Marto (Mono Purple)

Jadiel is ahead in the race for the ā€œDesigners Intentā€ slot, but zhavier could still catch him if he falters (although Jadiel won the head-to-head tiebreak). Marto needs to win one of his last two games to keep his spot at the top of the standings for any potential open slots.

For everyone - final standings are still tightly grouped, and every win matters!

So it shall be until you can face your demons.

Seems kind of bogus to match me against you and @Marto right when it looks like Iā€™ll advance

Iā€™ve calculated probable results for all ongoing matches, but if your match makes significant progress in the next two days, or reaches a natural conclusion, those guesses will be revised

@Jadiel @cinder @CarpeGuitarrem @lettucemode @zhavier @snoc @jasonwocky @Barrelfish @Mooseknuckles and @Marto all have games still ongoing (although I know most of you are aware of this, I just want to be fair with my tagging - though apparently I can only@mention 10 users per post)
