SQL’ing Onimaru was a good move, I can’t attack with Argagarg and then gain free levels to heal him. I don’t think it can save him, however… Blue starter vs. Black starter is rough. I have some control over his Technician draw, as well… I think I’ll stick him with the Newsman again.
That is GG. I thought I had you. I hate might of leaf and Claw.
GG. Might of Leaf and Claw is scary for sure, and Black starter is particularly strong against Blue starter, because of the difficulty of blocking non-$2 spells and upgrades with Newsman when faced with Sacrifice the Weak. The only real defense is to quickly dump +1/+1 runes on the Newsman so that it’s not your weakest unit, but even then, you only get to choose one cost to block, and your opponent will see that and be able to react to it. It’s tough.
Well, that’s generally speaking, and especially for the early game. Later on, it becomes possible to use tricks like using Eyes of the Chancellor to spy the opponent’s hand, then using Manufactured Truth, Flagstone Garrison, or Reteller of Truths to get the Newsman back into your hand, and the replay it to block the worst immediate threat, but the problem with that is it tends to require more gold than is practically available, unless you’re running Insurance Agents.
