Not mine. (chars)

I’d have put an Agent in Technician instead of Scavenger, but I can roll with Scavenger. Unless Carpe is fine with killing a Technician instead.

I’m fine either way.

I’ll take the Technician draw, then, although I doubt it’s helping me out of this hole…

Thoughts

I’m clearly the underdog now, although the others aren’t especially picking on me just yet. That Terras Q will quickly cause problems, though, especially with a Banefire Golem in tow, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Frozen about to hit everyone with an Earthquake, since carpe didn’t take up my suggestion of bouncing my Newsman.

I don’t think I have better options than just playing as much as I can now, to defend with while I rebuild. I don’t expect to be alive by then, mind. Teching in a Community Service: if those big Demonology units get killed, it would be amazing if I can pinch them. Anything else I want? Blooming Elm would probably be nice, since if Vir Assimilates it I can destroy it to get it back, unlike MoLaC. Maybe I’m better off just taking a Judgement Day, though? Or a Lawbringer Gryphon, since if I build a Tech III now then it’s got a decent chance to survive any Earthquake this turn. Final option is Artisan Mantis, for base repairs. That might be necessary at this point, for any chance at surviving. I’ll go with that.

Sorry Neko, we just gotta do something about that big nasty shackled pigman. I am reading Earthquake correctly that it’s “an opponent” as in I choose just one target, right? I had it in my head earlier that it was all opponents but reading the text carefully that does not in fact seem to be the case

My Thoughts

Damn I forgot earthquake doesn’t effect everyone, but actually that’s okay…? I want to try and stay out of the fight and get them all attacking each other… So I guess we’ll see how that goes.

1 Like

I spent the last two rounds panicking, because I thought Earthquake hit everyone. Yeesh.

1 Like

I thought it did also, but then I read more carefully… And actually that’s okay for me right now? I’d much rather have just Neko, with the clear massive board advantage, have to focus his efforts on threats to inflict lethal, rather than paint a giant target on my back as the only one with base health

2 Likes

I also thought Earthquake hit everyone, good to know it doesn’t… and I totally get that I had to be knocked down a peg or two so I couldn’t knock someone out and win, but taking my base all the way down to 2 suggests that you’re not aiming to restrain me, but rather to finish me off and take the win for yourself. In which case, I suggest that unless Carpe can Origin Story Rook, that both Carpe and charnel repair their bases to 20 before Frozen’s turn, as he may have drawn both Earthquakes off the reshuffle, which would be enough to finish me off. I’ll do what I can to slow him down by paying through the nose for repairs, but that may not be enough, and I can’t just focus down his Rook myself because of the Void Star and Stampede threats, also I desperately need to earn income by attacking now, and I can’t do that by crumbling Rook.

Thoughts

Definitely time for Artisan Mantis.

@CarpeGuitarem’s turn!

I don’t even have enough gold to double earthquake though… And I actually think my base should be at 17 (now 16). Banefire damages all buildings, that includes base yeah?

1 Like

It does, I saw 18 HP for your base in the spreadsheet and ticked it down to 17 from Banefire, or so I thought?

Yeah, Frozen’s on 17 and we’re on 16, he’s been one health ahead of us for a few rounds due to playing a Brick Thief. EDIT: oh, now I’m looking at it, your turn 7 doesn’t account for a round of Golem damage. Neither does Carpe’s, so we’re all at 16 with 3-health tech buildings?

2 Likes

That does appear to be the case. I’ve modified the spreadsheet to that effect.

2 Likes

Sorry, looked again. FrozenStorm didn’t adjust his base health up to 19 when his Brick Thief came out, at least on his posts. So I think that balances out with not accounting for Golem damage this turn, and he is on 17 now.

Well, I can’t really Rewind here. Frozen has a lot of potential paths to burst damage here, even without double Earthquake. I’ll just turtle up and look for burst damage opportunity here. I really threw this game by not teching Immortals early on, but we’ll see what I can salvage.

@charnel_mouse’s turn!

No Rewind, huh? Glad I stashed this Arrest, then.

And that’s why it’s dangerous to nuke someone’s base without being able to win in the same turn! :rofl: Gratz charnel, nice play!

Who wants to play again? I believe @Shadow_Night_Black expressed an interest.

I was amazed I could steal that one after the Jandra wipe :smiley: I’m up for more!

I knew that was a risk but I had nearly no hope of winning; I was hoping it would start enough of a 3-way fight that I might be able to evade notice long enough to formulate a win condition. Sorry Neko :wink: there wasn’t really any other outs for me though

1 Like

It was a tough situation. One thing I would say is that, with my pinging Nekoatl’s Tech II, you could have used the second Earthquake on someone else, but you’d run the risk that no one is then able to deal with Terras Q + Golem.

Yea my estimation was either Rewind was coming and maybe I’d catch an Earthquake on the RS to get someone else in danger or been able to finish, or you wouldn’t be able to quite finish after Neko took shots at you and Carpe.

Did not trust splitting the quakes and crippling either you or Carpe with the Golem and TerrasQ out, it would have put you both way too close to lethal for all that was on Neko’s board. Maybe I could have gotten away with one Earthquake on Neko + an Ancient (I bottom decked all my good cards that cycle lol), but I didn’t like my odds to avoid being targeted in that case.

If we think we can wrap the next game by tourney start in 10 days I’ll be in but I won’t be able to do this and the tourney
