[FFA] Nekoatl, bansa, FrozenStorm, charnel_mouse, CarpeGuitarrem

Hold your horses, @FrozenStorm, I still need to redo. I haven’t looked, are you killing the Golem or not?

1 Like

No but if you haven’t figured your stuff out that shouldn’t affect your decision ya? :wink:

Well, if you’re happy to go after the Golem, I’m happy to call a non-aggression.

Banefire Golem’s ability is not optional. So long as the Golem survives until my upkeep, stuff is gonna burn whether I want it to or not, even if I have to sacrifice the Golem in the process.

Thoughts

Damn, I gambled on keeping the Ancients up, and got blown up for my troubles. The Black starter is so nasty in FFA. I don’t see any outstanding targets out for the Insurance Agents, either.

The choice is between sidelining Carpe’s Mox to kill off the Plasmodium, which is only worth 2 gold per agent, or insuring the Banefire Golem and hoping FrozenStorm can’t kill both the Agents and the Golem. Might be able to do both, actually: double insurance on the Golem loses 2 gold to the gold limit, so I can insure it, have that Agent copy the Lobber and survive sidelining the Mox, then have the other Agent insure the Plasmodium before my true Lobber kills it. That’s 2g+3c, then I can still worker and maxband Argagarg for a Water Elemental on patrol.

Alternatively, I have something copy the Plasmodium! That gives me 2 (Lobber) + 4 (Plasmodium) + 1 (Arg attack/boost), which is unfortunately not quite enough to take down the Golem myself. However, it lets me get Plasmodium insurance while also hitting a more immediate neighbour hard. I could trade Lobber / Plasmodium into Argagarg, which costs 1g+3c with full insurance, and gets Argagarg to midband. Arg could then kill Frozen’s Wisp, which rebates all my spent gold. I’ll still go down on cards once I get a worker + whatever else, depending on which card I draw post-reshuffle, but I’d be in really good shape for gold. I wouldn’t get a massive insurance bonus from the Golem, but I don’t really have good ways to spend that much, unless I go for Tech III and invite Prynn to banish my Gryphons all day. I’m strongly considering teching in Community Service, to see if I can pinch that Golem, but I don’t want to get caught drawing that along with my Ancients, even if my cheap units would provide a lot of Golem ability fuel. I’ll go for another Scribe, and for Stampede, in case I can make my small units stick but not my Ancients.

… Killing Argagarg doesn’t quite work, because my Plasmodium doesn’t trade in the process. I’ll go for Carpe’s stuff as originally planned, then. I do need to play Manufactured Truth on the Newsman, in that case. What should I block? 6 might be a good idea, in case of Stampede / Double Time.

$6 blocks Double Time and Metamorphosis, nice. And so long as Vir remains on the field, I can’t afford to cast Sacrifice the Weak either, sux2BVandy, lol. Stampede too, I suppose.

Also, it occurs to me that even when facing Assimilate, Might of Leaf and Claw can score an OTK with sufficiently large board presence. Something to keep an eye on, I suppose.

Does… does that work?

I believe so, yes.

My Thoughts

Prynn’s down! I probably can’t effectively protect Rook still, but I can limit how effective Charnel is. I’m not sure if that just paints a giant target on me and perhaps it’d be better to keep a buffer in front of Rook… but I think I look non-threatening enough that I might live. Idk though Golem’s gonna do work

What unbelievably fortuitous turns of events! Now I can do the thing!

Thoughts

Summoning Vandy in case Terras Q gets bounced or something. Also, to prevent Rook walk-byes. Okay, Carpe doesn’t have enough gold to max Prynn and cast Rewind, but he could get the $2 he’s missing from bounties, so I’ll hold off on playing my newly drawn Voidblocker.

@CarpeGuitarem’s turn!

Put Rewind on top, Stewardess bounces Newsman, I replay it on 5 in case of Earthquake, Prynn comes back in for Rewind. Thoughts?

Hold up, I forgot to do my technician draw.

Okay, ended up not doing anything with the drawn card. Post and board state updated.

I forgot to do my update to board state Fam, Neko did you cover me?

Thoughts

Sooooo that’s terrifying and I really need to make sure Nekoatl can’t just steal the win here. To do that, I think I need to unload base damage onto Nekoatl. Geiger, Now, Void Star. Void Star kills bird and overpowers onto base. Can’t spare the gold for much else, hmm. 2 gold left, 1 left after worker, I can use Mox to get another gold. That’s enough to Prynn (2), maxband (7), rewind (4), 11 + 2.

@charnel_mouse’s turn!

Oh, my Newsman couldn’t have been in patrol after it attacked, could it? Does that change anyone’s turn?
