No Prospector P1T1 so we just play Vandy and see what comes our way. Got to put pressure on him to try and prevent a big Present Tech II burst. Chronofixer also a great counter to meta.
Forgotten Fighter is surprisingly strong vs Green starter, so I have to use two patrollers and the Elite slot to play around it. Tiger + Prospector makes the most sense after Tech I and with Grave having Sparkshot I can’t use my preferred Scavenger slot so we’ll put Prospector in Technician. He can still trade Fargo then FF/Nullcraft Prospector and mid Grave to kill Vandy but he forgoes Tech I in those lines so I don’t think I’d necessarily mind unless I Tech a Vandy spell and it ends up being a dead draw. Best I avoid that risk and go with units instead. Gargoyle + Crash Bomber will build towards an aggressive push on his board.
These draws were absolutely awful. Best I can do here is get rid of Fargo and put Ironbark in patrol.
Reversal is the absolute worst case for me as it lets him trade away my whole board and tech up, unless I patrol Ironbark in Lookout to make it more expensive. Looking up his past games with Present and DIscipline he doesn’t tend to go for spells super early so I think it’s an ok risk to take. He also really likes to trade in his first hero and switch to a second one so this patrol makes that really annoying and he has to choose between killing Ironbark and Teching up.
Given that risk I think I’ll slightly hedge my Tech choices with Bloodlust and a second Crash Bomber. Worst case my board is still ok and Bloodlust is a dead card. I’m probably ok in that world and I can always speed up my cycle with Young Treant or tutoring for Dark Pact.
Well I was right he wanted to trade in Grave, I’m just unlucky he hadn’t workered FF already! I suspect he’s trying to set up a big value Tech I Temporal Distortion, which I assume is for a Twilight Baron. I think this patrol makes that somewhat annoying to pull off for big value, even if he also has Now! in hand. I think should leave me in a decent position to Tech up and/or counter attack. I guess he can patrol Nullcraft to block the Gargoyle but if I have a surviving Crashbomber that I can trade in I can kill it. Teching in more counter play in the form of Drakk spells and Blood Tech II units.

I’m not quite sure what he’s up to, since Vandy clearly isn’t part of his plan A. I’m a bit concerned its a juggermox strat so we need to kill Spartner. That means Bloodlust or getting Drakk to maxband for haste. Bloodlust is 1 gold cheaper than midband and lets me send his second Rambasa back to codex so that seems optimal.
There’s a decent chance he kills Drakk next turn (only needs Reversal, or Now! and a 2 attack unit) and it’ll take me at least a couple of turns to cycle through. Probably a Dark Pact and a second Shoddy Glider make sense, that way my chances of drawing 2x Tech IIs next turn stays pretty low and I can cycle through faster either with Tech II, HH or Drakk dying.

D’oh! I forgot about the easy Nullcraft line to kill Drakk. At least it helps my hand size. Obvious play is Midori, Rampant Growth Gargoyle, break Tech II or kill Grave. Grave can kill my Gargoyle, so let’s get rid of him, build Verdant Tree and be threatening multiple flyers
That may have been one of the few times where I screwed up by workering instead of playing a Crash Bomber. I now get the feeling I’m probably done for. Going to be hard to get Tech II up under this pressure. He’s clearly aiming to use training grounds to keep up constant meta threat, which means I will need extra gold for a tower and at least one copy of Nature Reclaims to get rid of it. My other tech choice is Moment’s Peace to stop him patrolling with units. That should help get my Gargoyle through.

Thoughts
Interesting that hug0 skipped another worker, and still hasn’t teched up. Is the plan to ping me to death with Crash Bombers? I AM losing base health, but without Bugblatters it’s a slow grind.
I was planning to tech up, but maybe I just flood the board? Meta threat can’t be ignored forever.
We have a viva with 3 people, one external, one internal and a chair. It’s basically all dependent on the people involved. Can be a nightmare if they’re overly nitpicky.
The folks they’ve lined up for me are very reasonable, so I think mine will be fine
