Go chunky and set up for next turn. Planning tech lab Balance before my reshuffle, Fairie Dragons are great vs Truth
I’ve been thinking. There are two green cards that cause Blue a hell of a lot of trouble in this matchup. Calamandra, given her huge early game pressure, and Spore Shambler since it’s able to pop illusions throughout the early and mid game.
For Calamandra you tried a line to porky to deal with her, which think intuitively should be the answer but it didn’t work since the costly disabling then still left you having to trade in all your board to kill her. Green will take those value trades all day. Disabled I think categorically just isn’t a strong enough an effect for its cost within Blue since launch. I think Disabled has to prevent the disabled unit or hero from dealing combat damage. This would be a major core rule change with a wide ranging impact but I think it also has a lot of potential merit.
For Spore Shambler we could easily fix this issue by forcing it work only on friendly units. Then Illusions become genuinely quite scary in the early-mid game, with only Rampant Growth, Arg midband or expensive Arg spells able to pop them. The downside would be that it’s another buffing card that Blue can’t disrupt with Flagbearers, but I think the tradeoff is a net positive for Blue overall.
I think we should try out the Spore Shambler change in our next game, see how it plays out and save the disabled changes for another time. I’ll post the explicit changes for you once we settle this one.
