My Thoughts

Could have used Rambasa here… I’m going to force Free Speech before attacking for Aki here by putting Rook front and center, and hope and pray I can get to a hasty Ninja to blow some of this up in time, but I’m not holding my breath. This is probably the end of the line, I played to try and double earthquake before Aki could finish establishing the machine but I didn’t draw the pieces I needed in time to get it done. Oh well!


Very strong to be able to tech a card and cycle through the deck to get it immediately. Not sure if Dreamscape is the best way to go, but it seems like it’d be very difficult (impressive) for White to wrestle back the initiative here.

Thoughts

Tempting to cast Free Speech again, but I think I’d rather get a 3rd Drill Sergeant rune to kill another of his units, and then buy a worker.

I think there was a better way to do this by levelling Quince up 1st, getting a Mirror copy of a Drill Sergeant and then playing my units out. But this should be sufficient to keep Frozen on the back foot, and I am not keen to unwind all the card drawing etc.

I’ll scoop to that, GG WP! I needed a better technician draw turn 5 to get past the Aven and actually do some damage with Earthquake.

I can start our next game later today, my only bit of feedback is that Free Speech makes Rook not crumble and just die on his first life, and you probably would have been better off going for that over Dreamscape last turn, as you could have plowed the road a lot better.

That said, Dreamscape + DS is a fun combo to do and you were clearly winning either way :wink:

Right! That’s a good tip, did not think about that. Might be one of Blue’s best paly’s to counter heroes in general actually.

Free speech is incredibly effective in this matchup, as White’s primary win conditions (IMO) are hero-based. Maxband Sets and Rook are very troublesome for a variety of different game plans, especially Rook, but free speech is one of his strongest counters. Having Rook on 1hp before crumbling against Blue is anxiety-inducing, and you almost want to crumble him just to heal before it happens.

A very GG all the same though, glad to see your improvement as you familiarize with the matchup! I think a few more practice games are probably still in order, but if you feel comfortable to move on to the “real games” just let me know

I feel like you misunderstood me: Quince can be level 3, there was a way to do your turn that accomplished that (kill Oni FIRST, then bring Quince in, THEN kill Rook)

Thoughts

Oookaay. That was possibly the turning point of the game. Frozen’s done well to clear my board here, and I’ve got three unplayable spells in my hand. I can’t protect Macciatus, but also, can’t afford not to play him. I think my deck building has let me down here. The tower counters safe attacking, but I think it’s too little too late.
