Thoughts

I think what we’re looking at is building a Bashing base on Tech 1 into Future Tech 2, because I can use Drakk to haste Void Stars. I can also alternately set up Hive with Drakk frenzy. Kidnapping to swing a board state. So let’s open with a 2-cost and a gold float. Brick Thief is hard to take down here.

@Nekoatl’s turn!

No worries, GL HF!

Thoughts

What am I going to do with this mess? Bashing doesn’t look like much help, but Law and Necromancy have some synergies. There’s massive unit deployment / card draw possibilities, and the possibility of Judgment Day followed by Executioners to clear away his units. But, against Blood, I need to be wary of haste. In which case using massive card draw to facilitate consistent spell availability, particularly Nether Drain and Injunction, may be the way to go. Unfortunately, Vir’s maxband triggers on levelling up, so I’ll have to watch out for that if using Nether Drain. Doom Grasp may be a better option in that case. For now, though, I’ll just try to make progress more difficult for him, in typical Blue fashion. Neutral spells are difficult to play around, so I hesistate to deploy a hero, but I should be able to get a good value trade by frontlining the Newsman, and if that means he’s unable to afford his Tech I, so much the better.

definitely gums up the works. hero wither is 4 gold, not enough to build t1. so instead I tech spells and beat down the board. Bloom Thief gives me a 3/1, strictly better than wither on newsman. Then I can trade with Messenger. 5 gold. I think I might try Unphase this cycle, to kill a backline Bigby or Garth.

@Nekoatl’s turn!

Ah but ya can’t, cause of the newsman.

Inspector has served his purpose, and I think it’s time for him to go. Brick Thief is just too much of a threat to pass up the chance to remove, especially in Lookout. I think Bigby can safely hold the line now, especially with Bloodlust off the table. Going to start with boosting my card draw, it’s hard to go wrong with that, and having some shock troops to soak attacks would be helpful for protecting backline utility. Pulling Newsman off the front lines so he can’t be worn down with Spark. I’m kind of on the fence about whether or not to stash Porkhand, but I think I will. Having the Newsman around should make it easier for me to use it for card draw, also there’s potential synergy with Insurance Agent if I end up going that route.

This is easily the most obnoxious part of the Blue Starter: that point where arrest cycles quickly. It’s a great way to gain a tempo lead while Iron Man is disabled. And MT is a huge annoyance here. But I think I chance both. Hate how much Newsman blocks though

If he’s going with a unit-centric strategy, Injunction may be effective. I wouldn’t be able to use Bone Collector for draws without midband Garth anyway, so that can wait With Iron Man as an option, MTruth seems worth holding onto. Better pay to midband Bigby in case he has a way to take out the Scribe without attacking it with the Messenger.

What to tech here? Do I expect to build a Tech II this turn? Figure $2 for the Scribe, $1 for Search, $3 for Injunction… yeah, not happening. Guess Bone Collectors, then. Even if I can’t get card draw from them immediately, at least I can play them, and maybe I can stockpile Skeletons for future draw use. Alright, let’s see what LSearch reveals… Bloodlust and Void Star? Yikes! Would really liked to have drawn an Injunction. But, since I didn’t… what am I gonna do about this? Even with MTruth, I can only deal 4 damage to his Tech II… I could pay to maxband Bigby, and gamble on the 1/3 chance to draw with his maxband, but that would leave me with little in the way of options… still… it’s a big enough threat that I think I have to try… and, of course, I whiff. No help for it, then… I’ll just have to take my lumps.

Forgot that the Newsman was blocking Bloodlust. facepalm Not sure why he teched it, though… I played Newsman on T1. Maybe he expected to kill it by now? Well, I suppose it doesn’t matter. I need to kill that Void Star, but I don’t want to sacrifice my units via JDay, so I guess I’ll opt for Doom Grasp. Slight problem, I don’t want to spend the money to make room for a 2nd hero right now, so I’ll cheat them in with Jurisdiction.

Oh, snap. I could have gone for Executioners instead. I should have done that. Well, Doom Grasp is more flexible, in that it’s not screenable by cannon fodder, so this isn’t so bad. Need to try to bring Garth in on the action soon, though, even if I have to resort to a Heroes’ Hall to do so. Also need to keep an eye out for reshuffles, in case I get an opportunity to snag his Void Star out of his discard pile.

Okay, got my other Jurisdiction. I could play defensively and kill Drakk, or I could play aggressively and steal the Void Star. Hmm… Drakk can Kidnap the Void Star. Guess I’ll go for the kill. Looks like he’s (sensibly) going for a hero-based strategy, so I’ll tech in Nether Drain to facilitate Skeleton draws, since I need Garth now anyway. My chain of Injunction is about to run out, so I’ll take the opportunity to dump some damage on his Tech I, especially since I don’t quite have enough to break his Heroes’ Hall. Well, I guess I’ll have some chances to draw one off the reshuffle, but I know better than to count on that working out.

Thoughts

One last chance to tech something in before the reshuffle. LBargain? CService? TCollector? IAgent? Probably better to go for non-spells, given Jurisdiction. And… this is a pretty big cycle, I think I can risk going for Tech IIs, especially when stash is an option. Then again, I am spending a lot of gold on spells, so I may not be able to afford a Tech II for a while. Guess I’ll go with Collectors. … Nice! Injunction off the Scribe! LSearch reveals only Kidnapping of interest, and that’s only a threat if I let him make room for Drakk to be resummoned, which I feel like not doing. Hmm… if he pays to maxband Troq, he can 1-shot my Scribe even through SQL armor, and if he also pays to midband Vir, he can 1-shot my Newsman, allowing the Thief to break my Tech I. That doesn’t seem great, so I’ll summon a token for extra defense. But, how to do it? J:LB or Garth ability? Hmm… I feel like I need more force to push through his double-hero strat, so I’ll risk LB.

Thoughts

Keep pushin that Kidnapping along…realized that Final Smash is less valuable to me here, so I’ll plug the line with Troq. My biggest hope is for Neko’s deck to just bloat and cycle poorly.

EDIT: oh next turn is gonna be spicy.

@Nekoatl’s turn!
