Should I play Sparring Partner or go for a bigger hand size? But if I drew the Barbarian, the Sparring Partner would come in handy. It´s a pity I have to worker Smoker. Nice against Deteriorate on the Lookout Spot or cheap fodder for Sacrifice the Weak. But I have to recover my hand size.
Well, in all honesty: I didn’t realize that I can play Martial Arts with no card in my hand. So actuallly I workered after playing it so except for my documentation everything should be o.k. But of course I would have played Martial Arts with an empty hand if I had known that’s possible. So should I just correct the order of my actions or redo the turn?
I consider this a rules clarification, more than anything.
Yes, Martial Mastery can be played as the only card in your hand, as the discard is not a cost. This falls under the “Do as much as you can” rule, where you are told to discard, but you cannot, and then you draw 2.
I think it is acceptable to allow Unity to worker first and then draw 2 from Martial Mastery (you shouldn’t be seeing any new cards anyway).
But also in future please make sure your turns actions are in the correct order, as sometimes that is relevant.
One thing I would like to point out, for everyone on the forums, is that you discard and draw before you look at your opponent’s hand. You do not get the information before you make your decision!
(It’s not relevant right here, but I think I’ve seen people order it incorrectly before)

My Thoughts
Going hard on the board here. Reversal, Grappling Hook, Sensei’s Advice all could cause some damage, but with Graveyard I’m going to have such strong card advantage for the board that it’s going to be tough for anything to stop me. Maxband Rook will be a wall but Maestro Fencers and Haunt can easily get around him while I wait to Nether drain him away. Skipping another worker feels a little bad but I think it’s a worthwhile trade here easily
Frozenstorm has a bad habit of not cleaning up his copy+pastes each turn. The body of the turn is always correct in regards to gold amount, and usually the end of turn card count is correct, but yeah some of the other stuff is often leftover.
So don’t worry, he didn’t overspend and he only discarded 2 and drew 4, with a reshuffle.
And @FrozenStorm… please clean your copy+paste more often!
I have a question: If you have a Nimble Fencer in play and then you play a Starlet and then you attack with the Fencer and lose it: Does the Starlet lose Haste in this case or can she still attack?
Indeed, the starlet is no longer gaining haste and therefore suffers from arrival fatigue. The haste only exists while a nimble fencer is under your control

I expect a Virtuoso rush. I really hope he doesn’t have the Shadow Blade in his hand. Play Setsuki or Jefferson DeGrey? Jefferson brings down my hand and gives him one more card to draw Shadow Blade. But if he doesn’t draw Shadow Blade: Jefferson does a lot more damage. Moreover: If the skeleton survives he can kill Grave with his Skeleton and his Pestering Haunt. And then: If he has Sacrifice the Weak he can kill my Sparring Partner with his Pestering Haunt and then… The pressure is there. What is the best way? Shadow Blade and Sacrifice the Weak make it very hard to play accordingly. So many possible permutations. Easy to calculate the minimal damage for one turn, but the consequences in the long run… I don’t know. I have the feeling it is too early to defend, but maybe this is the tournament of the hard lessons for me. Please no Shadow Blade…
Well I can come out on the board pretty strong here, prep a 3-hero Meta for turn 8 if I want it, not too shabby. Probably the response will be Rook maxband, luckily I have the nether drain already teed up for it.
…
That is unless I whiff lmao, though I spose I should be able to fetch DP from Vandy if I still want to do it. Fetching Grounded Guide might just be enough…
Had a chance of 25 percent. Would have been nice: Oathkeeper and Monk for portection… Well, what to do now? One gold missing for Double Rook and Andra’s Bolder. Thought about playing Setsuki because of this possibility, but yeah: Easy prey for Sacrifice the Week. Oathkeeper would have been so good…
