I had some bad breaks in my P2 games, but I’m still a little disappointed I couldn’t pull more than 1 win. Hoping P1 is 2-3 or 3-2, I know Blue is relatively weak but I want to do it a little more justice than I feel like I’m doing.

Thoughts

Jaina on elite might be able to stand up to Oni for now, and keep an attacker safe in the backline. I would’ve liked to play Musketeer behind her as insurance against Aven, but MTruth would let Frozen get a free kill by copying him. In which case, I might as well just play Bombaster on elite and float the rest. I won’t have Charge, but I should have enough gold for a midband hero+Mad Man. Also not going to build tech 1 early, since Arrest would let Frozen set up to break it on T3.

Bloodlust inc no doubt, Newsie to stop it. He probably paired it with a taxman, but I have nothing good to spend 1g (I suppose BI in backline? But that’s another card and I want to worker BI). So as much as this is a big gamble on potentially just giving him 1g, he is 5/5 split, so he easily could not have drawn it (or teched it, possible he went Lobber or Firebat). I want to avoid the Dog getting big value as the Drakk-hasted thing, and try to protect Hound as much as possible, so Scribe in SQL, Hound in Techn (so be it if he scorches it, good trade for me).

Teching Free Speech, hoping to tech up a little late on turn 5 and optioning a tech 3 rush if I can manage it.

In retrospect, Bloodburn would’ve been awesome.
I have no way of getting at Newsman, so Aven is certain to survive. If I play defensively, Frozen can Arrest my Taxman and get a cheap kill on Drakk. If I play offensively, he gets an even cheaper kill, but at least I can clear some of his other stuff? I don’t know, I feel like I kinda messed up already…

Going to gamble his other tech wasn’t a Lobber but was in fact Bloodlust, and thus Free Speech and SQL Quince. All goes well and hopefully, he survives to next turn, Dreamfire goes to tech 2 and puts Jaina out for sacrifice, and I tech up in kind. Again I’m left with 1 float, but so be it. Teching some tech 2 stuff to have ready when I build it next turn.

Well drawing the Tiger kinda bites, maybe I should’ve teched another Free Speech? It would be awfully nice to lock down with that. But oh well, I do still have the soft-lock on 2 with Newsie. Likely he is planning to go tech 2 blood, maybe I’ll end up using Jail to combat that, or mirrors…

My Thoughts

Using LS here, despite the gamble that I could draw something I want to use next turn, as I feel like I need to keep the cycle moving & find out what he’s up to.

Looks like a tech 3 rush. Going to skip worker to get TD in SQL (as that seemed to be one of my greatest factors of success in warm-ups) and Quince in Elite (he has enough gold to max drakk + Brogre, not enough to kill Quince. Same with Mid Drakk + Zane or Max Zane, so I think this is pretty safe. I just need quince alive enough to do mirroring and Free Speech. Skipping worker hurts for a potential tech 3 race, but I have to protect the board. Hoping with Macciatus I can start generating some real pressure.

My Thoughts

All I have seen of teched cards are Taxman and that Steam Tank… I suspect Bloodlust was one of the OG techs, but that leaves 3 unknowns that are still in his deck. Could be Kidnapping, could be Marauder, could be Disguised Monkey or Lizzo, maybe Surprise Attack or Lobber, but the #1 concern is a Gunship. Easily could have teched 1, likely would have it in hand. I feel pretty obligated to prevent that. How I do that, though, and what to tech to keep it that way, is a tough call.

Making it to tech 3 and keeping his down doesn’t feel like it will be feasible. So I need to abuse Mirrors and Roc or Tiger to accomplish it. Keeping the deck moving is going to be important, too, so Boot Camp feels like a decent choice to do that whilst giving me an avenue to continue pounding the tech buildings. Injunction is arguably better? Doesn’t help me cycle and is more expensive though.

This is really tough drawing 2 of a 10-card discard and hoping / praying I land on a Spectral Roc or something to help RS… But it does feel like the best possible avenue.

What a lucky 20% draw! I may pull this off yet!


It’s an easier game for Blue than for any other color.

Heh, I just wanted to see if you could sneak that 2 extra damage in. GG WP! Cool to see the Spectral menagerie get some time in the spotlight :sunglasses:
Big mistake on my part on turn 2, throwing all that gold into Drakk when I knew you could block Bloodlust with Newsman. Should’ve went with Bloodburn instead.

GG WP! Bloodburn is my kryptonite, please don’t use it :slight_smile: Seriously though, this was on a knife’s edge and hitting that draw for Roc was insanely lucky. Without that draw, I would have had to really gamble on the previous turn that you didn’t pre-tech a Gunship (I was sure you had) and break the Tech 1 and 2, hoping to break the hero wall you’d almost certainly throw behind Steam Tank. .

I felt a lot better about this matchup during warmups, now it feels like a miracle any time I’m close to a win. I haven’t tried Law T2 at all, but I really don’t see how I would win with it; You could pretty quickly rip GatG to shreds, Censorship Council gets quickly owned by Detonate, Justice Juggernauts can’t lock down effectively enough, and stalling for Lawbringer Gryphon is no good as it gets wrecked by Gunship. Feels like Peace Engine and AoW are my only primary options, with Truth T3 as a backup.

Lucked out pretty hard last game… I’m quite sure Dreamfire isn’t going to let me run wild with Aven this game, so hoping to utilize Oni a little better, maybe get an AoW win.

Don’t sweat it, works been kinda nuts for me, 3 man band of a dev team is down to 2 for the next couple weeks and buncha deadlines are in this span, so I probably should be spending less time on this :wink:
