Round 1, Sets had a hand of Q & A , Midori had only one block that got thrown on turn one. Ended quickly and predictably.
Round 2, Midori had 4 Ace, but no dodges and no way to get into Dragon. Ended quickly and predictably.
Round 3, I admit I wasn’t really paying attention. Ended quickly and predictably regardless.
migohunter vs @CarpeGuitarrem

Games 1 and 2 were crazy comebacks, with game 1 almost being death by deckout for me. Last game was very convincing cause I drew all my Js and Carpe’s blocks were nowhere to be seen.
The score doesn’t reflect how ridiculously close that set was, ggs dude.
Accel vs @vengefulpickle

Rounds one and two were Vendetta and Zane doing “I’ve fallen and can’t get up” routines. Perfect for Zane, near perfect win for Ven.
Round three was 5 minutes getting Setsuki to three HP. And then five more minutes to do the last three damage.
Round four was a special rules match: Vendetta can’t have Kings, Setsuki can’t have throws. I imagine vengefulpickle might have objected to that ruleset if the game had warned us beforehand.

Powered up for TEN aces this game. one MA blocked, one MA hit one slipstream hit for game
>
started with 3 kings drew 4th early, spammed reversals and 9attacks to get the job done.
>
powered up for EIGHT aces this game, one MA blocked, other used to get get throw AA to land, sets only had 3 throws left in deck despite 24 cards in deck and both 1 combat away, my throw beats dodge last combat
ggs, games were much more tense than scoreline indicates. when you throw your whole hand away to try to win in one combat and keep missing it, its a terrifying proposition.
I played against @migohunter. If he recorded the set, you guys might want to watch the video once it’s available.
Here are the results.

GGs, migo!
That was a fun set which had plenty of tense situations.

ggs Hobusu!
I think “super tense game” and “obliteration” don’t quite convey just how tense the first two games were and how obliterated we each were in the last two games!
Game 2 in particular was down to a true 50/50 that we agreed afterward could easily have gone the other way, juicer chose the option that showed he respected my ability to determine what the “correct”/“best” option was so I don’t feel bad at all about losing that one. Meanwhile, game 3 I took a total of 2 block damage the entire game and landed like four high normals in a row (then the next turn successfully used Final Authority to win combat with a Jack), and in game 4 I lost 75 health in two turns from 5 of juicer’s cards.
A very fun set!
Yeah, both of the first two games came down to the wire.
This is why I can never understand how Oni vs Arg could ever be worse than Oni vs DeGrey, tbh.
I think it can feel worse for a lot of people because (1) the inevitability of Hex of Murkwood and the checkmates it can cause, and (2) he’s using a super block to ruin your day when you’re playing the character who’s supposed to crush blocks. DeGrey is probably actually worse in practice, though.
Because Arg gets bigger payoff on blodge vs blodge and denies the time Oni needs to build up enough cards to go throw++ enough times to win. DG needs fewer combat wins to win, but the inevitability is a MASSIVE edge for arg. (in my opinion, who knows the actual capital T truth)
Yeah, DeGrey lets me at least turtle a bit.
Arg’s blodge/blodge advantage is 2 damage, right? Unless I’m misunderstanding. I feel like Moral High Ground matches that. Like Arg deals 2 per turn, flat, but Moral High Ground either punishes Oni for playing at high hand, or works to keep his hand lower than he’d prefer to play.
I don’t understand how Arg better denies Oni the time he needs to build up if DeGrey needs fewer combats to win. And that’s fundamentally why I’d rather fight Arg: I can take way more combat losses and ties in the MU than against DeGrey.
arg can win theoretically playing only throw/block. DG can’t realistically
Why couldn’t DeGrey win playing only throw/dodge? I’m assuming he’d be allowed to follow up his throws and dodges.
Especially as Degrey does have the best throw in Yomi.
The Numbers
put Oni/Arg and Oni/DeGrey at 3.5/6.5, but DeGrey is ever-so-slightly worse. (Oni/Arg is actually 3.6/6.4)

I was a goon, and ended it with an MA when Sets was at 25ish HP

and then I did it again

@undergroundmonorail cottons on to my range, and blows me up like Sets loves to do. I try to play MA for lethal, but throw it down wrong way around. Fortunately, it missed, so I didn’t have to live with the regret very long.

This one came down to 10-4, with Sets KD. My 6 clashed her A, and I walked away with 1 shiny solitary pixel to show for it.
Good games!
