Thoughts

They say “Tower is the 11th card in the blue starter” and “If White has a good opening, build a Tower”. Not sure if this qualifies as a “good” opening for White but that’s certainly a lot of random little units. Question is if I’m killing Bigby or not.

Trading BI or TD + attacking with Oni leaves me with an exhausted 2/1 and 1/1 that can patrol. Sensei can’t buff Smoker, and TD can’t be grappling hook’d out of SQL so requires 2 ATK to get past. Sensei’s Advice on Sensei + Primus is enough to kill an x/2 and Oni at x/4, and I think that leaves enough gold to maxband Setsuki to recover all the cards? I could Arrest the Primus, but then I don’t have enough gold to get Oni to midband, unless I also skip Tech I. Is that reasonable? I could do a lot of damage with Elite Training + Soldier Tokens.

Will I get to see someone play Speed of the Fox in Codex?

Fire is one of my favorite specs, and I like the idea of Law for all that I have no idea what to do with its Tech II. Ninjutsu I don’t really understand – Setsuki can be really bad or really good, Fuzz Cuddles is either really bad or downright oppressive with big heroes on offense, Inverse Power Ninja seems like it should be amazing but never quite seems to work out for me. Outside of Setsuki’s ultimate, I don’t see what Ninjutsu is supposed to do mid/late game… so I’m looking forward to seeing how your specs play out too!

Looks like we both read the hero removal correctly. XD
Skipping not only Tech I again but a worker is brutal. Early game Oni is scary.

Opting to start on the tech tree rather than go straight for Hero’s Hall. I can afford the extra gold for Plague Spitter over Carrion Crawler, but I don’t think I want to – looks like this is a game I want to win on economy. Probably not going for the TPoS ending either given the 2-cost spells I’ve teched. Think I’ll want Discipline – Mind-Parry Monk and Vigor Adept together counter anything they can throw at me, with the other picks all being generally good options.

Losing Orpal hurts, but he can’t do much with Mind-Parry Monk on the field anyway.

i think that will do it. GG!! i risked it going for Oni T3, and you were ready with Orpal spells as a backup.

i think i’ll switch to discipline/anarchy/law if you don’t mind. Turn 1 to you when you’re ready!

GG! Yeah, we both read the hero kills — I had Sickness when Oni died, you had Flame Arrow when Bigby bit it. Difference is, one of those spells costs a lot more than the other. Feel like the game started to spiral out of control when Building Inspector all but locked you out of hitting Tech I on time. I don’t know what White’s supposed to do against the possibility of Aven, their only answer to it costing 3g leaves them very vulnerable to econ disruption.

I’ll have a 1st turn later tonight, small neighborhood shindig this evening.
