No choice in the unit to play here, but I’m not sure about the hero. Grave would be nice for combat, but makes one of my key cards (MT) more expensive. I’ll be using Illusions later, but this is probably too early. Bigby is somewhere in the middle, and Stash would let me copy the Aven next turn. That’s pretty early to be going down on cards, though. Let’s go with Grave, I might need Reversal to deal with Rook, or Versatile Style to help with Birds, and a combat hero gives me more space to get a tower down. First tech choices will be Twin and Hound.

Pft, I’m lucky Shadow didn’t just Hook Grave and kill him. Next turn I’ve got 6 gold after worker, 2 if I want to hit Tech II. But I’m going to try for a Twin rush, so I’ve got enough gold for both of my techs, with 1 left over. I probably want to float 1 this turn, in case I draw Manufactured Truth as well. That leaves me enough to bring in Aven, so I’m happy. On the other hand, maybe I want Musketeer down instead for another land patroller? No, I’ll need Aven if Birds appear. Let’s just put the Newsman up front, if Shadow wants to leave himself open for a counterattack with Grave and Aven he’s welcome to it.

Thoughts
The few things that can kill a Twin on Shadow’s turn (e.g. Speed of the Fox, Reversal) can kill one whether they’re in Squad Leader or not, so I might as well patrol in the resource slots here.
I’ve been wondering whether to go Law or Truth, and I’ve just realised that Reteller plus Hallucination or Dreamscape would skip having to reshuffle to get the Twins back. Truth it is.
… 2 gold after worker and Tech II next turn leaves me enough for Free Speech or Newsman if I need them, but hopefully I’ll have the breathing room to bring in a Mirror and build my hand size back up.

Thoughts
Eh. Free Speech or a Mirror would be nice, but I’m worried about Partner helping to clear my Twins, or Safe Attacking going down. Blocking with Newsman also gives me more patrollers in case a Glorious Ninja comes out.
Tiger and Reversal are pretty much required, I think, for Glorious Ninja and Porcupine. Time to play Lawful Search and see what I draw… meh, Manufactured Truth isn’t ideal here. On the other hand, I’m only facing a Porcupine next turn, not a Glorious Ninja. I could kill Grave by maxing Quince, hitting him with Aven, then turning Aven into a Sparring Partner to buff Quince and the Twin. That takes 5 gold, pretty hefty but enough for me to worker and put Grave down to block. Quince will get hit with Snapback, but I won’t have to worry about that sword rune.
… Actually, he can just Snapback Grave and get a full hero wipe, and still afford Porcupine. This is going to suck.
