Metamorphosis was the plan once I saw I could kill Vir and Max Vandy on Turn 2. I actually planned to play it Turn 4, but you killed Garth so it wouldn’t give me much value.
I agree that it is risky to commit to such a strategy focussed on one hero early on, but because of the Battle Suits opening and my favorable turn 2 I was quite sure whatever you could bring to the board would be too slow. (Early Stampede also works great if the opponent doesn’t clear your tokens with Growth.)
Other than that I hear that Metamorphosis is the reason why Demonology is so insanely popular around here, so I wanted to try it in order to get a feel for it.
Resigning is okay, not sure if there is an etiquette thing?
(I think Sirlin even has a blogpost with strong opinions about how tournaments shouldn’t be structured in a way that things break when a player resigns.)
I guess I see. I mean, this game alone shows how insanely strong it can be. I was under the impression you filled in the tech choice before you even saw battle suits. I think I misunderstood when I looked at the log. Battle suits is a clear indication I want to flood the board with units that benefit rather than time manipulation weirdness, so it makes sense at that point to give yourself the option to just full clear.
In retrospect, I probably should have gone Origin Story as soon as Vandy maxed that early. Having a maxed hero that may need to be 3-for-1 in order to kill it is scary, and purple has a way to get rid of the threat. I just feared it wouldn’t cycle to my hand in time and then I’d lose other valuable units (getting both Argonauts down was great with battle suits and made me think I had practically won). It just didn’t occur to me that an Ultimate Spell would have been teched early enough to fear it at that point.
While the teching step is listed as the last step of your turn, you don’t actually finalize your decision and add the cards to the Discard until the beginning of your next turn.
Also yes, Origin Story should be a useful tool for Purple against Metamorphosis.

I get this is true in board play, but the spreadsheet makes this very cumbersome to do in forum play. Since you didn’t edit that post, I assume you teched before seeing my play.
Sure. I’ll play again. It’s like every time I do, I see the game totally differently.

Edit: I’m being really dumb. I was definitely misinterpreting that post. I forgot how the sheet works for a second.
