Assuming he has played a worker on each of his first 5 turns, then as P2 Hilbert90 will have had 10 workers by the end of his turn 5. That means that from T6 on he is not obliged to tech any cards at the start of the turn (he can freely choose to tech 0, 1 or 2 cards).

EDIT: oops, but this was his T5. Then yes, he should have teched 2 cards, having at most 9 workers

apologies, you’re right. I mistakenly assumed he had workered every turn, as is normal, but now see that wasn’t the case.

In any case, I also see (and have edited to that effect) that you were talking about his T5, not T6 - even playing a worker every turn as P2, you still must tech every turn up to and including T5.

Hmm. Not sure why it says that. The two cards I teched appear in my hand/deck, so it definitely worked.

I’m not sure what standard courtesy is surrounding resigning, but this feels totally hopeless. Even if I get exactly what I want for 2 turns, I see no way to build a board state.

I’m really surprised by your tech choice though. Why go with Metamorphosis from the start? Was it a fluke precaution? I feel like I got blind countered.

It seems really risky, because you’re putting very special spells into your deck that you have no guarantee of being able to use. It essentially forfeits your first tech on the off chance you can use it and on the off chance it’s worth using. And in addition, black should expect to have a better board than purple if I understand the typical archetypes, so I’m confused why you thought I’d gain the tempo as player 2 to make it worth it.

Is there a sacrifice synergy you were going for?

Metamorphosis was the plan once I saw I could kill Vir and Max Vandy on Turn 2. I actually planned to play it Turn 4, but you killed Garth so it wouldn’t give me much value.
I agree that it is risky to commit to such a strategy focussed on one hero early on, but because of the Battle Suits opening and my favorable turn 2 I was quite sure whatever you could bring to the board would be too slow. (Early Stampede also works great if the opponent doesn’t clear your tokens with Growth.)

Other than that I hear that Metamorphosis is the reason why Demonology is so insanely popular around here, so I wanted to try it in order to get a feel for it.

Resigning is okay, not sure if there is an etiquette thing?
(I think Sirlin even has a blogpost with strong opinions about how tournaments shouldn’t be structured in a way that things break when a player resigns.)
