Okay let go through some thoughts.
Charnel is going for a more aggresive opening with both SA and monk. they don’t have good answers to aven just yet, so using that to stall out pressure and force answers from them.
Oni should be safe in SL so I can threaten a lot next turn (esp since I have the arrest to back it up).
Not sure what my tech 2 plan should be yet, Peace feels like the obvious choice, but law is looking more intesting to try out

Damn, unfortunately I don’t have a good response to Aven here. Saviour Monk dies to Aven no matter what, outside of being Squad Leader, so either he goes there or he whittles Onimaru down a bit and sits on 1 health. The problem is that Fox Primus can be killed by Onimaru, even if it sits in Squad Leader, and without my own heroes to get the bonus levels that’s a good trade for Shadow, then Aven gets to kill the Saviour Monk for free afterwards. Therefore, I think I’m better off putting the Monk in front and Fox Primus behind. Not as aggressive an opening as I was hoping for, unfortunately.
Twins are nice with Safe Attacking, but not while Aven is around. So maybe Fuzz Cuddles is handy here, since it’s like Saviour Monk but can survive an Aven attack. Not an exciting Manufacture Truth taget, too. I don’t know what Shadow will want to block with the Newsman, but I’ll gamble on him picking 2, and go for Shuriken Hail: if I can level Setsuki, her ultimate will be really good with Safe Attacking.

Okay arrest lets me board clear here, which seems very nice as P2 blue. I’m down a card, but have aven + oni on board which defo seems worth it.
Newsman on two to prevent them popping aven/summoning birds (almost tempted to get dreamscape in here with how few white targeting spells they have, but grapping hook makes me nervous.)
Tech wise, I want to experiment with Tax Collector, (esp with 2 cost spells/upgrades down, should encourage a float). and hound is a good compliment. Thinking either T2 Truth or T3 Law rush, not sure yet.

Clean up board (mostly), float enough that tech 3 next turn is very possible (so get the gryphons in now for the reshuffle), no real shenenagens from Charnel this turn.

It feels like a game that oni and aven just continued to pressing without answer (not that white has that many answers to aven once you take out 2 cost spells, or oni without a board to begin with).
Game two? or change specs?
Yeah, I struggle to work out how to deal with Aven while staying on the offense, I struggle even more to defend with White’s starter. Game two!

So I guess the main question here is BI + Oni vs Aven. Aven won’t do much T2 due to SL armour but does prevent sensei/smoker plays.
Oni + TD/BI threatens aven + MT T2, but I have a feeling they wont play around that.
Oni also gives some wierd cycling early plays that I might think about, so lets go Oni
