You gotta be kidding me! Basically the same hand as last game! No tenderfoot, combat tricks in first hand, and worst of all, no fruit ninja to worker! What are the odds??
So that’s about the response I expected. No Wither means I can’t really do much about it, so I’ll bide my time. Taxman matches up well against most of their tech 1s, so I’ll pick it up. I know birds fold to plague spitter, but I’m expecting executioners or bone collectors.
Flagbearer could come in handy here for pulling orpal stuff. We’ll see.

Fruit ninja worker praise be. Plague spitters seem to be a good option vs birds and can hold their own against unsupported fencers. I’m giving him a shot at Orpal, but it will be costly and give me a card, which is a reasonable trade I think.
Birds out is good, pick up vines just in case of plague spitter. Not sure what my endgmae plan is here… perhaps stall to gunships? They’re still I think.
Tough decision on what to worker here. There was an alternate line of play with saccing rook and levelling up my river, and it’s hard to say which is correct. I’m going for this one to try and keep birds alive for longer and get value from vines, but I could be wrong. 2/5 chance for them to draw a tech 2 off this technician draw, so maybe I’ll get unlucky, but taking down orpal felt pretty important.
Judge here, that is in fact correct. @Penatronic you should redo your rs draw 1 for orpal technician death to disclude your turn 4 techs, as teched cards enter discard immediately prior to your turn beginning, which is after patrol bonus draws or forced reshuffles

Similar line, without cheating this time. Skipping a worker and going down in cards may not pay off especially if he gets some dope haste plays off, but not having to worry about maxband rook feels good. I want River in tech but that seems way too easy for him to also get a free card with Zane, so SQL it is.
Damn, plague lab wiping my bird and taxman, and a messenger for rook… that’s very annoying. However, they did skip worker. I will lay down defence in preparation for abomination and prepare to get gunships on board. A chaos mirror will also do nicely vs abominations.

Got a lot of mileage out of that tenderfoot. I really need to get some offense going before he gets to t3. I don’t have any great answers for the gunship. Not sure what the best tech is, Lich’s bargain is temping but since I skipped a worker that might not be the best move. Nether drain should give me a counter play assuming he kills my orpal.

Just head for gunships I suppose. Just enough to tech and double lay steam tanks, which should delay my opponent for a little, unless they happen to have spreading plague I suppose. Nice Chaos Mirror pull means I can beat up some aboms, but no gunships unfortunately.
So it’s stall till gunship eh. That nether drain tech looks bad now, and my next hand also looks bad. I’ve been playing as if he’s going to bum rush me with Nimble Fencers and Hasty T2 things and now I don’t think I have any good answers for gunship.
No need to go on the offensive here yet. I’ll wait, and put up a nice big wall to ensure I can begin playing gunships. With both plague labs down I don’t have to fear widespread runes as much. I’m expected them to build a tech 3 and head for plague lords, but gunships actually goes pretty nicely against them (unless abominations appear too, but all these things are expensive).

that taxman patrol was good. No real way to take advantage of my plague labs. Maxband Orpal is an option but it just doesn’t feel like it does enough, and I really want to get Garth out. No way he doesnt drop a gunship on me now.

I have one gunship. However, it is very possible they destroy my tech 3 next turn, so I am not guaranteed two gunships. However, one is still very good.
I will put them on a timer and say “you must destroy my tech 3 or lose”. I like that strategy. And even if they don’t, they might still lose! Beautiful.

Woof that hooded executioner really paid off. Wish I could have worked bloom in there, could have skipped orpal and bloomed Garth to kill the tower, but I didn’t want to pass up the free levels. Seems like my board state is really good now.
