Is Grave meant to still be your SQL? I see the armor bonus, but he’s not listed in your patrol zone.

#5

Yes, I’ll edit that.

#6

Yes, I’ll edit that. It’s strange, the Google form isn’t including the patrollers in the Template.

(edit) And then it worked. Weird.

Thoughts

OK, so with Necro and Past around, I can’t rely on heroes much, which is a bummer for White. With Necro he’ll likely have lots of weenies, so hopefully Tower and Shuriken Hail will help with that. Illusions, so targeted abilities. I figure IVP comes out next turn, so if the Sensei dies I won’t worry too much.

Unless he has some terrible Necro magic around, I don’t think he can gank the IVP this turn, and even if so she’ll do good work on the way out. Maybe premature to level up Grave, but depending on how things go I might just go whole hog and get the sword next turn, let him FATALITY Garth early or something like that. I want to go Discipline, rely on MPM to avoid some of the worst Necro and Past spells.

#17

There no way to recover. I surrender.

#18

GG. I think this build is better than I initially thought; thanks for helping me try it out.

#19

Once those Remembers hit the table, it was over. I’m not sure what I should have done differently, other than probably not targeting Quince.

#20

I would have played the Savior Monk instead of levelling Grave on turn 3, with the Monk patrolling as either Scavanger or Technician and IPN as SQL. If it lives, it heals Grave. If it dies, you still have IPN and can level Grave next turn, if needed.

The Black starter deck can be frustratingly difficult to play against, at times, especially Haunt, Deteriorate, and Sacrifice. But, there are ways to defend against them. Keep a weaker unit patrolling as Scav or Tech to protect key assets while recouping some losses if they die to Sacrifice, patrol as Lookout to make Deteriorate more expensive, patrol as SQL to stop Haunt from trading with a unit or play a Tower if it’s going after buildings. Alternately, a turn 1 Heroes Hall can allow for less dependence on units in general, which makes Deteriorate and Sacrifice much less potent.
