Thoughts
I figure since I have Vir, may as well use him to dig. He eventually snagged the Battle Suits I was looking for. I could just as easily brought out Huntress and continued to stall but I figure this will be more worthwhile when my Knights come online. Besides I’m sure there’s some arrest/mirrored truth nonsense that I’m better off not leaving myself open to immediately. I considered time spiral but I think I’m better off keeping the gold and continuing my quick cycle.

I dug as much as I could but missed my Lich’s Bargains. Hopefully the resist on KotC will be enough to save him but I doubt it. Let’s think about his costs for a sec actually. Arrest+Porkhand+Bigby sideline is 3. Presumably 1 of those targets my KotC, so that makes 5. Which gives him just enough left to midband Quince and mirror my Knight. He wouldn’t be able to add to his board but he hardly needs to. With that he can kill my patrollers with Hound and Flagbearer then either kill Garth or my Tech 1 (but not both). If he lacks arrest, manufactured truth or macciatus would let him still trade for my knight. And then there’s Injunction. I’m trying to imagine what kind of hand he’d have that doesn’t end it here but I’m having trouble seeing it. And I STILL haven’t gotten my tech 2 up.

Thoughts
That was somewhat less bad than expected. Porkhand and Bigby can take out 2, aven kills the remaining. Leaves him quince and macciatus to hit my tech so not quite enough to finish it, and I’d have huntress to hit back with. Arrest, Mind Control, or Injunction ruin me. I realized too late how good xenostalker could be against truth and I think I’m just about at my last chance to get it in play. That and lich’s bargain together MIGHT let me claw back into this but I’m still doubtful.

Injunction doesn’t cause base damage, no. Also, Retteller is an illusion so she’s actually a 4/4 now.

His board just keeps getting bigger but I guess mine does as well. And he’s got a tiny hand size with little to spend it all on. I considered conceding but I actually have a line here so let’s see. I’ll probably concede if he breaks my tech 1 again though.
I couldn’t find the rules concerning the interaction between Reteller and Judgement day. I figured that despite the wholesale destruction invoked by the card, her ability would still go off. Then, if there were more than 2 Illusions that could possibly go to my hand, since it’s my turn, I would get to pick which two ended up there. If I’m wrong on these points let me know. If I’ve got the rules wrong, I may redo my turn…

Great point. I missed that. It would have taken on the Haste attribute as well. First time going with an Illusion scheme for me. It seemed strong, but I can see it falling apart against a Codex with a lot of cheap targetable abilities.
You were able to get some things off earlier in the game that the Newsman was in a position to stop. Namely Battle Suits and a Lich spell. I just didn’t pull the trigger on it when I should have. I had just Teched Free Speech, which I’m guessing is an extension of the Newsman. You’ve done too much damage over the last few games with Lich’s Bargain for me not to be focusing on it. Plus, half of the spells in your Codex are 2s. I liked Mono Blue but I don’t know how it would hold up to Mono-Red or Mono-Black. Feel like another match? I’ll do Blue again, but wait to start until I hear from you in case you need a break.
Honestly it was probably bad for me that I got Battle Suits in play. Convinced me that I could get value out of KotC when in reality they need more rune removal (usually via a seer from Past) to be effective than I could get from just the purple starter. I was kind of floundering that whole match TBH. I expected that you’d go for Peace and didn’t even really think about Truth until it was well out of hand. I did eventually realize that Xenostalker would have done wonders but by that time I had been heading the wrong direction for too long haha.
I’ll play another but I’d like to switch my codex to [Strength]/Past/Balance if that’s ok by you.
Oh regarding mono-blue: I’ve played it quite a bit in person, at least until my friends stopped letting me lol. It’s not necessarily all that great but IF it gets going it can be really frustrating to play against (and it usually got going because I’ve played more than the people I rope into it). Truth is more solid at tech 2 than people give it credit for. I think you’re MEANT to use Eyes of the Chancellor to make Macciatus invisible, while Reteller keeps your hand full of cheap, efficient bodies. Then you just overpower with tigers or stall until gryphons. All very functional, and with spectral flagbearer not too easy to punish except by like Fire and Disease. It just gets ignored in comparison to the brokenness of Peace. Law is such an odd spec: the units (except for Insurance Agent, which is really good at its job) are pretty much garbage, and Bigby’s spells, while inarguably powerful, are a little on the niche/expensive side to regularly tech. When you get a good Injunction or Community Service off though, damn it can really swing a game.
I’m convinced that you know Blue inside and out. I think I’ll try something different. LOL.
[Strength]/Past/Balance for you and I’ll go Mono-Green. I’ve been wanting to try to get over my dislike of Green. I only feel that way because I am roundly beaten by it on a consistent basis. Played a game a night or two ago and took Blue, trying to build on my momentum. Green kicked my butt. Although, playing in person is so much different than PBF. The immediacy, at least in my case, can lead to sub-optimal choices.
