Hmm, Frozen seems to like going for River spells into Maestros. Choice is between two of Panda, Midori for spells next turn, and Rich Earth. I’m going to risk the latter, it’s vulnerable to Assimilate but if he opens with River it’s less of a problem. Thinking of getting Bloodlust and Tiny Basilisk first for killing wounded Fencers and killing River if he tries putting Two Step on Mox again, Battle Suits is going to hurt though. Workering the Prospector, it’s useless against Discord.

Hmm, I was thinking to go Fencer + Two Step, but the fact that he didn’t lay a unit makes me want to go Stewardess (as he’ll probably go for something chunky here in defense, Ironbark or Tiger Cub maybe). I’m all but guaranteed a Midori kill if he 1-drops then.

Thoughts

Probably River spells or Fencers incoming with that float, plus Suits. This isn’t a great hand to play a board from, should have thought about that last turn. Treant’s nice if there’s no Stewardess, otherwise I could play Tiger Cub, and maybe Forest’s Favor. Maybe the latter for more counter-attack damage. There’s a high chance of getting wiped, so I’ll go for some Drakk power. Bloodlust for haste or killing off wounded Fencers, Tiny Basilisk if I need to kill River. That would only leave me with a midband Drakk on defence, not much I can do about that.

What’s he up to…? I can’t imagine he expects Midori to survive in that position… right? So why is he buffing him? Just to help trade with Fargo…? What’d he tech? Drakk stuff? Tiny B? Bird’s Nest? Battle Suits + River here gets me a pretty free kill, can lay Plexus for cover as well… that seems good, right? Maybe get Seer (as a cheap hard hitter that doubles for Prynn fodder) and Fencer I guess? Idk this is such a weird spot…

Hmm, was hoping to see a teched card come out there. There’s five damage, plus River for two damage or sidelining a unit, already on the board. If I block with Rook and tech up, destroying the Tech building needs three more damage. Two Step makes that a piece of cake, so fast tech is a no-go. I need to get enough blockers down that Discord doesn’t leave me wide open, preferably without River’s sideline ability doing the same. So maybe Spore Shambler putting a rune on something is the way to go, I don’t to risk Young Treant drawing Bloodlust this turn.

Thoughts

Only seeing one teched card so far makes me wonder whether FrozenStorm’s taken non-River spells, or gone into Tech II early. I still want to kill River and the Neo Plexus instead, between going with Tiny Basilisk and River sidelining things I can’t just block up. Tech II next turn, hopefully.

Things I’m most worried about are Maestros (too much health to kill with a Shoddy Glider), Xenostalkers (high enough health that Crashbarrows and Kidnapping struggle to trade), and Hives. Oh, and Void Stars, but they’re low-health enough for Gliders to deal with. Balance would be better against Future, Blood would be better against Finesse, I think, especially if I can steal some virtuosos with Ogre Recruiter. I’ll go with Blood, it’s less vulnerable to Prynn banishing things, but I might need a Tech Lab or a Circle of Life.

At this point I feel like I need to go tech 3. He’ll probably (rightly) suspect I’m largely on tech 1, and go after that if he does have Crashbarrow (probably about a 50/50). So let’s hope he doesn’t suspect a tech 3 rush, and I’ll tech 1x Maestro and 1x Blademaster. I need to lay some blockers, and want Vir to manipulate the deck, so River will get sacrificed. I’m not likely to use Two Step anymore if I’m going to end up with mox trashed, so she can play sacrificial lamb. Last tech probably an Origin Story since I’ll have to deal with maxband rook, and the other bm

That could have been much worse… Still, probably not going to make it to tech 3 right away… I’ll tech the other Maestro and Origin Story. Maybe before I recycle I’ll tech the other one.

OMG Maestro on top! that’s fortunate. Even still, though, I’m probably not going to get to keep Vir if I swap for it and play it to get the Drakk kill (which would be good to do). Rook’s still up, and he’s got 4 cards. So I think I’ll swap TR to the top, b/c I really want to get to those fencers again. So next turn I can do that and flood the board. Might be able to hang on
