Outside of a forecast rush I’m not expecting a massive amount of early-game pressure, I’ll start off with Rook, and see if I want to go early econ with Galima and wisp spam, or bring out the birds. Vir’s upgrade removal means I’d be looking at Doubling Barbarbarian and green/growth buffs over MoLaC.

Okay so problems for me against Balance Strength Growth.
Birds nest, I have no good AA option till tech

Tech 2 wise, Balance is a pain and a half, with Mimics and Basilisk, although weak to Tech 2 Future/Past.
Strength is easily overrun by tech 2 Present. Vs Future its whoever gets their big units to stick first (Void star/BarbarBarians)
Growths MoLaC should never be played this matchup. If im present Ill have enough time to tech and draw assimilate before it goes big, and then its fun time for me, but Blooming Ancient might be a pain. Present/Future should be good here.

Overall, Future tech 2 seems to be the best game plan against his options, so that should be my plan

Also to note, he has no haste options unless he goes tech 2 Balance, so that makes my defences much easier to plan around.

Hmm, still some Purple float. It’s a safe bet there’s a Stewardess or two coming in to stop my spam. Maybe Vining them’s a good idea. The main problem I’m going to have, though, is if Tricycloids turn up. I’d been planning to switch over to the green heroes once Rook was killed, but he hasn’t been touched yet, so I’m not sure what to do with him. Favouring him this turn to get rid of Fading Argonaut doesn’t seem particularly efficient. I’ll keep him in front for now, if two Stewardesses turn up and Battle Suits comes down he can kill off Rook and wipe the patrol, but that sets me up to bring in someone more useful.

EDIT: Switched patrol places for the Young Treant and the Playful Panda.

Hmm, was not expecting the Galina, and thats a lot of gold generation. Either a tech 3 rush or a lot of gold heading for heros shortly. Heros I can deal with Origin Story, and Tech 3s die to void stars, so future tech 2 seems good. Xeno stalkers also do a lot of work against a full patrol and can eaily pick off the key backline targets.

OK so far, but that draw doesn’t leave me with very good defensive plays this turn.

Let’s think about the next hand. Grappler and Barbarbarian are guaranteed and go down for 6, leaving me with 3 to spend. I’m guaranteed a 2-cost spell if I draw a full hand, so if I reserve at least 1 gold this turn I can get out a green hero and cast something, and hopefully start taking the base down, or take the Tech II down, before big air units turn up and take the game.

That leaves me 4 gold this turn after work and Tech II. I could level up Rook (takes all Shadow’s current board to take down and threatens patrol pass, full hand), cast an expensive green spell (push past FA to kill Stewardess, but FA dying this turn anyway makes this really inefficient), put down a Shambler (more Galina income and a buffer for Barbarbarian), or build a tower (gets Nullcraft off my back, full hand, 1 less damage to kill Rook so Nullcraft can do nothing and live, or he can run the Mox into something before putting down a Tech II). A tower is probably a good idea while I can afford it, let’s go with that.

… This next hand is beautiful.

Very peaceful game so far… I don’t think I’ve ever had a game go to T5 with only 1 attack declared.

A few options here. I can bring in Midori, Growth someone, and take out a Stewardess with no losses. Alternatively, I could skip Midori, midband Rook to kill a Stewardess, and have the option to bring in Argagarg for Dinosize next turn. I could also bring in Midori for Moment’s Peace, but I’m not sure that’s really necessary, and I could do with taking away some of his board. Or I could bring in Midori and the Playful Panda, I guess. Or have Rook cast Rampant Growth, save a gold from not bringing in Midori, and leave Arg as an option. Going with midbanding Rook, let’s get some pressure going before the Void Stars roll in. Hopefully the wisp spam made him go for Xenostalkers, which I don’t care about too much by this point.

OK, I managed to forget about Prynn’s maxband again, but I still might be OK. I’ve got another Barbarbarian in hand, I have Dinosize, and he’s teched Xenostalkers rather than Void Stars for now.

Options:

  1. Bring in Argagarg, Dinosize Panda to kill Xenostalker. Skip worker to maxband Rook, or FF Rook and buy a worker. Either way, that’s 4 damage + tower to kill Prynn if she attacks, and Rook survives without further effort.
  2. Bring in Midori, Moment’s Peace, FF Rook or bring in other DB, or skip worker and do both.
    Going with the latter, getting the Peace up stops anything nasty happening next turn while I’m building a board back up, and putting down a DB now means I don’t have to wait for Prynn to die. I’m probably going to need to tech again anyway.

Rook surviving is fine, but if he gets Origin Story’d, Argagarg’s got a good chance of wrecking the board.

I have 11 damage, and can get 13 or 15 with Rampant Growth, so the difficulty will be in speading the damage around. 2 damage from Midori needs to hit something before Arg comes in and boosts DB, then I have 4 and 2 to do at any time, and finally I have DB’s 7 with Overpower. Possibly a Polymorph in there somewhere, too.
… OK, looks like I can kill almost everything. Sweet.

The barbarians overpower would not hit Prynn, as the only other thing overpower could hit would be the fading argonaut.

Thanks, I’ll go back and edit. Playful Panda kills the Fading Argonaut instead, Void Star gets polymorphed after everything else is dead. Does that work?
