Drafting Origin Story and Nether Drain already pointed to a Rook strategy. Including Birth’s Nest and Earthquake there are quite some questions posed. Going for Basilisk and Haste to deal with Rook? But if I don´t draw both, it’s probably a waste of Tempo. Tricky already.

I’m still expecting basilisks. I can’t squad lead rook here, because battle suits just instantly kills him. There’s also a weird line where my opponent could’ve teched now+basilisk to kill rook, but that’d be pretty wild. Not unheard of though.
I took birds over thunderclap for now because I realised that thunderclap is great for moving them, but I still have to kill them eventually. Birds will help with that.
Oh wait… except for the part where birds can’t attack it. Am I dumb?

Yep, no way to stop them from getting to tech 2. So I shall opt to gain tempo with stewardess and reach tech 2 first. Choosing between strength and past was tricky, but I think grapplers will prove useful for killing wounded backliners to prevent snowballing. Colossus may see value as a defender too.

Goodness… that’s quite a lucky draw. To be fair, I guess I also hit the lucky draw.
Actually, now that I look… if they teched double copy (seems likely) it was a 50/50 draw. Hmm… though the splitting of the basilisks was also quite fortunate. Regardless, it puts me in a rather difficult situation, and I’m not pleased about it.
If they are holding nullcraft, they can easily destroy my tech two and tower while sustaining zero casualties, though they could not tech up if they choose that path. More likely they will tech up I think and either destroy my tech 2, or destroy tower+grappler. Or some horrible third option I haven’t considered yet.
To that end, I’m grabbing another tech 1 and cursing myself for not going past. I have no air defence! How foolish of me!

Ah… future. Of course. I have no anti-air. Void star will be a pest. Interestingly I could edge against hive with degrey… but I won’t. Void star is more immediately threatening, so I’m trying to keep my grappler alive to smite it. Failing that, Prynn maxband, failing that, doom grasp? Something like that. Laying birds would’ve been nice this turn but killing that basilisk I think will prove to be crucial. Probably.

With Prynn to max and taking out my Nullcraft? But then you couldn’t have stopped Midori going to max, also flying and dealing 4 damage? And I drew a Circle of life with my Technician being able to bring another Mimic to finish it next round?
