I really don’t get that HH! cadet speaks against blood Tech 2, for future tech 2 I would have expected one Glaxx to have better ground trading possibilities, so peace it probably is. but either way: great for my game plan, that he already put 4 gold in Newsman and HH, which both don’t contribute directly for early pressure!

I’m scared… Peace is online, but he needs extremely good draws to really get going now. Maybe, just maybe I’ll have enough time to get through with my plan. tbh I don’t have the balls to sac skeletons to draw my missed seers, I know the probability to miss with two draws is only 1/6, but if I do, Rememberer is almost guaranteed to die. And as he is my only option of potentially winning (and only if everything aligns perfectly), this must not happen.

For spectators

Thoughts on using Garth’s midband to try to draw a Seer or two here? Two Skeletons, so it’s two chances to draw one of two cards out of four, 5/6 chance for at least one Seer.

It’s a reasonable question but if you whiff, you’re considerably more likely to lose the rememberer.

It means you kinda have to tech Golgort instead of the Second chances (which arguably I think you should do, hard to get value out of fading insurance against this peace engine… much more likely to have things dying to combat damage)

I think it’s a reasonable risk to take to sac the skeletons, but playing it slow here has its merits as well. Either way you’re probably playing for a T3 win con, as you’ll get beat on the ground against Peace Blood if you try to hang at tech 2

Zango probably should have asked for a deck re-roll though XD was always gonna be an uphill battle in this matchup

uff, I imagined myself to have a chance exactly if you played defensively in the beginning (which you did) and had a kind of whiff in your first tech 2 turn (which you didn’t). The uphill battle just got waaaay steeper. Especially that BI is such a huge pita… But it’s not over yet!

I really liked my plan for you to bloodlust break your way through my defenses with triggering my reshuffle with killing seer such that I have two of them in a cycle size of probably 5 or 6. Drawing two cards out of this cycle sounded great for me (technician draw plus skel draw) to get the Archon remembered from a maxband Garth fetch plus Seer. But your aven changed that.

In retrospect I should have gone for the sac skeletons for the possible seer draw (seer + tenderfoot + golgo instead of BC+skel) route in T4, but I was too afraid to miss and make my defenses too thin, especially with arrest in your mix.

Either way, solid play of yours, GG WP and also again a big THANK YOU for letting me redo the turn above even though it obviously didn’t matter with aven in your hand. Had you missed the bloodlust, no harm would have been done with breaking tech 2, killing stuff and spamming the board…

@charnel_mouse after my extremely lucky streak of 14 tournament victories in a row came to an abrupt end, the stars did not align for me to stand this uphill battle, but it feels like I was way closer than I expected when I read the pairing. And of that I’m very proud :wink:

Not after you had accepted your steep uphill battle in round 5. Asking for a re-roll felt unsportsmanlike.

I know we’re a cosy little community on here, so you don’t want to risk annoying people you regularly play against, but this format is aimed at creating fair matches, and I’d like everyone to think they go in with a decent chance. If there’s a community that won’t slight you for asking for re-rolls like this, it’s this one.

GG WP! This was a close game, and with some better/worse luck it could have gone differently.

And the redo is really not a big deal. It was a perfectly reasonable request and I was just being grumpy because I had finished doing my turn exactly then :sweat_smile:

Just wanted to cosign this. I probably would have re-rolled r5 if I had remembered it was an option! And that’s no disrespect to Charnel’s model, it’s cool how many fun matchups come out of it but no deck formula is going to give well balanced matchups randomly every time.

I love these random tournaments and having to try to figure out non-standard deck matchups, it’s a fun mix up to try-hard tournies. GG WP to both players this game!

@charnel_mouse & @FrozenStorm fishing for seer in turn 4 is a valid point. But the only chance to win this game against a fully working peace engine are archons with second chances. Since dreamfire had to dilute with spells to kill rememberer he could not optimize the engine. But this was not obvious at this point. Best option would have been to tech archon instead of second chances. Turn 6 archon from hand would have been enough to survive and the safe second archon in turn 7 via rememberer would win the game.
