He’s trying to Yomi Counter you, obviously.
Well, I didn’t like my opening hand, so I thought it would be better to stockpile resources than burn them on an ineffective defense.

I’m playing a game of Blue v Purple atm as P2, and I know the feeling. The Blue starter just feels awful…
Both Blue and White going second is challenging, to say the least
Not after discarding part of it, heh. Also, I thought if I dangled a juicy Tech I building, I could probably pass the turn taking only 2 base damage.

I used to think the Blue starter was terrible until @Penatronic repeatedly crushed with me with it here, inspiring me to try this Blue vs Black matchup. Then again, Penatronic crushes me with everything, lol.

IIRC we traded games in CAPS 1-1 @Penatronic The PPA casual series is just a mismatch I think, tough to deal with Nullcraft and Mox when they can get Chaos Mirror and DS Runes / Boot Camps (respectively). Moment’s Peace only works so well against Zane and Oni, too.
As for the game at hand, it is most regrettable I bottom decked all of the not-spells lol…

Tech in 3-cost units from Disease tech 2, wipe him down to only Quince at the cost of only Haunt, next turn we can Orpal + a disease unit (if I draw one, Nether Drain if I don’t) + BC / Max Vandy, Dark Pact if he doesn’t Free Speech, should work out very well.

Garth Midband and sacrifice a couple skeletons, I dug up the meta, which gets a base kill I’ll start another game soon, unless you want to try rolling this one back
Nah, let’s start fresh. It’ll probably take a few tries before I get accustomed enough to the turn 2 start to have a game worth rolling back.

Thanks. Yeah, between Vandy’s top-tier ability to ramp up her stats cost-effectively, and the Black spells that take out units, it’s difficult to bring out a hero to defend without simply feeding the beast. But, let’s try this…

“The Newsman Problem” is really at the crux of this Blue P2 matchup: you really want to block 0 for Dark Pact and Deteriorate (which are so strong early game), but if you do that a 2-cost StW blows him away and leaves your hero vulnerable. It very much feels like a losing proposition

Card deficits are no problem, its all about board presence.
…
Whiffed the cycle but it’s okay, hero’s hall and Vandy are always good investments
[/details]
So, would making Newsman unable to be sacrificed be a good fix for this matchup? I don’t think it would affect any of the other monocolor MUs, and it would help a lot to deal with Black’s early pressure.
That seems like a good idea, though I don’t really want to endorse it until I’ve tried a few other things.
Definitely, keep going! You’re doing better at this than I expected anyone would, so I’d like to see how much you’re able to accomplish without an unofficial fix.
