[MMM1] GAME 4: P1 White (FrozenStorm) vs P2 Black (Bob199)

@Bob199 Rook and Grave are really turning the screws as P1, but this time I didn’t draw a dive buddy for Grave so Rook is stepping up to bat!

Neither 1-drop unit but at least Safe Attacking here and Grappling Hook next turn. So Rook will still have some kill threat. Maybe do birds and Rambasa and skip the second hero? We’ll see how the board shapes up

This is a terrible situation to be in, but most likely Rook will not die (50/50 on deteriorate and getting Orpal maxed when I’m floating a bunch of gold is begging to get snapped back). Still though, it wouldn’t be the worst thing on his part to force a snapback. I’m going for IPN for some heft in case of the Rook death, and patrolling technician so I can pair her with some extra units if need be to stem the tide.

Well, at least my draw was pretty solid

Didn’t whiff FDS, so that’s good… but still this is a pretty bad situation. He’ll definitely have hero-destroyers teched in now, and it’s going to come down to how well I can continue without Sets (she’s definitely dying). Hoping to at least have Jandra lose that SS or have Vandy punishably low. Losing my tech 1 isn’t a total game over but it is very bad, the saving grace is that I’ll have lots of little weanies around to continue pecking at buildings to retaliate.

Grabbing Vines + Porcupine, it’ll be the best answer to Soul Stone’d stuff. I know I’m drawing into snapback, which is good.

Got vines, also porcupine which I’d certainly rather have next turn but c’est la vie

My ninjas :_(

I think my win condition has to be pretty set on Sets spamming more ninjas, I’m drawing into SotF and GN so I’m grabbing another Porcupine (bc Deathtouch) and a Sparring Partner (cheap body to toss out if I’m swimming in cards, buffs are good for Ninjas)

Workering IPN b/c it runs too contrary to how I win.

He’s got Vandy and Orpal sitting out next turn, that’s my lone Saving Grace here. Hope to get a Garth kill and Max Sets next turn. I almost have that graveyard overflowing

GG WP, I figured you probably had me but I wanted to see how XD

I feel like I teched really well to dig myself out of the hole I got myself in, but it really felt like a no-win for me to open naked Rook into the Rogue and Orpal… You think there’s something early game I should have done different?

A few things I noticed :

Teching IPN + FDS/Nest is a nonbo . Would have been better as a vines to deal with Soulstone

Your T5, double FDS would have given you 8 bodies for me to deal with instead of 5 with FDS+Primus, and you could have done the same amount of damage

On your last turn, playing flagbearer / placing that patrolling warlock in lookout would have complicated things a bit, and possibly bought some time

But yeah, given the starting hands, this was going to be an uphill battle for you

Will do, though may not be for a couple days. Holiday weekend and lots of other games going on. I must say, I’m pretty happy we’re 2-2 after 4 games, I’m feeling the pressure to deliver as P2!

As long as I don’t get Vandy + Haunt + Jav every game, it should be ok =b
