Thoughts

He can walk past my patrol and kill zane and max Rook, which seems kinda awful. I can skip tech 1 and midband Zane with 2 cards and kill ROok here. His choices is either snapback or tech up with some more defense. If i leave Rook alone I’m facing either a max rook if he has grappling, or injured mid rook and tech 1, or maybe mid rook and no tech 1 if he has senseis not grappling. Case 1, max rook not patrolling versus my unit and tech 1s possibly. Case 2 and 3, injured mid rook is easily killed by possible haste. Case 1 is worst case, but I can do a lot of damage before he walls up with rook, I think.

P2, Turn 2
  • Grappling Hook — Magic
  • Sensei’s Advice — Magic
  • Morningstar Flagbearer — Tech 0
  • Snapback — Magic
  • Fox Viper — Tech 0 -> Worker

So, I can either delay Tech 1/skip worker and have a max rook, have a L7 rook with 2 damage, and hope no haste shows up (unlikely), or keep Savior Monk alive, maybe build a tower and try to trade off that way. I think the 12 hp of rook wall is better than ~4 hp of other defense, so all-in baby!

I could Max Drakk and Crash Bomber, deal with Rook now. 3+2+3+3+1+2, he has 6+5 +1 defense, if I swing, im just expending all my resources early. I could leave max drakk on defense, then snapback is a problem, letting him snap and nimble fencer, possibly locking me down… Nah, little more defense.

Savior Monk — Tech 0
Bird’s Nest

Tech in Grounded Guide and Nimble Fencer - hopefully he can’t break both Tech buildings.

Those twins aren’t great here, as they will just trade with Tenderfoot and Messenger… but at least I’m getting card advantage! I could do a Hero, but that would just die to a slightly bigger guy…
This, incidentally, is why Discord isn’t worth it anymore - all the easy pickings will be dead by the time I re-draw it!

Bah I have 3+2+2+3+1 + (2 or 3 drakk) + 2 + 3 from zane and nimble, or wither. He has 5*2+2+2 defense, +birds. Looks like I still don’t have enough offense to break his tech 2, which will be quite unfortunate. And if he has even a grounded guide, my tech 2 is broken. I am not hopeful for my chances of recovering here.

That… was a lot less damaging than it could have been.

GG, well played!

I think I really should have gone with killing rook on either occasion I had the chance, but it really felt like I would die either way.

I always feel like red has so much trouble dealing with rook, and white with finesse feels as strong as black with finesse.

Yeah, killing Rook on turn 4 was probably your best bet. That would have kept the birds away, and you could have come out of turn 5 with a max drakk and a mostly clear board on both sides.

Maybe killing Rook on T2 would’ve been worth it ? Skipping tech I is fine if you tech some River/Drakk spells, as there are big odds Zane will end up snapbacked. And even so, Snapback on T2 would mean no tech I for Eric either, and no birdies, unless he plans on suiciding Grave. I’m not sure you’d have been fine, but probably better than with big Rook around…

T2 would have been better than t4, I think. But then again, at some point down the line I was likely to face a maxband rook, just because of how much resources it takes to deal with.
