Thanks for setting this up. I’m gonna go set up my place space upstairs then I’m ready to start. I’ll use the same template others are using for their games and I should be able to work it out.

The template i linked is a google spreadsheet that automates some of the fiddly aspects of turn tracking. I wrote a sizeable chunk of the code, so I am definintely familiar with what it can and cant do and some of the pitfalls new users get into.

Thanks, I’ve made my turn on the actual table. Trying to work out the sheet now. Where to enter the cards I’ve drawn for the next turn? The Generate button says i need to “draw” cards first.

oh, the script handles the shuffle/draw too. I think I get it. I’ll try it that way :smiley:

@zhavierI’m not getting the spreadsheet. I thought I had it, but it discarded my entire hand.

Is there a walk through I can refer to, to guide me through using it?
My attempt was:

  1. change my player number to 2.
  2. Set my specs and yours.
  3. Click “start game”
  4. Manually type the names of cards into the Worker, board and patroller slots. Type same cards and costs into the action slots.
  5. click “discard/Draw”
  6. select tech cards from drop down.
  7. Move tabs to generate post.

So, you probably didnt delete the cards you played/workered from your hand. Typically, I cut/paste the cards into the in play or patrol slots from my hand and type them into the play and cost areas. Your tech choices arent actually saved until your next turn starts, so you can change them after you see what I do with my next turn.

Hopefully I did that right.

I drew 5 cards, Played a hero (Jaina), put a card in as a worker (Makeshift Rambaster), played Nautical Dog. Put Jaina in squad leader and Nautical in the technician slot. Floated 1 gold.

Is teching actually the first thing you do in the turn, rather than the last thing you do? How is that represented on the spreadsheet?

Looks like you did everything right. So, In the rules, Teching is represented as the last thing you do, after discarding and drawing. In a live game, teching is actually what you do while the other player takes their turn. You spend the time from when you ended your turn to when you start deciding on your tech choice, and then lock it in. In the spreadsheet, you can discard/draw, then select cards in the dropdown, but the generate post won’t do anything with that tech selection. The tech cards arent actually in your deck until your nexxt turn starts. This results in some weird situations, mainly involving technician bonus triggering a reshuffle. The way you play out your patrol, I could have killed your nautical Dog. If I had, the dog would goto the discard, your tech cards would NOT be in your discard (leave the tech cards fields blank in the spreadsheet to simulate this) and then you would hit draw 1, reshuffling and taking 1 at random. Then you would start your turn with 6 cards in hand and 3 in deck, and 2 tech cards in your now empty discard. This has the result of delaying your ability to play the tech cards, or at least lower the probability drastically that they will be in your next hand.

Nice play, spent a few cards though, and dont have a tech 1 yet, let’s see what I can do about that. Zane got levels from Calamandra, so “Zane 2/2, lvl 3” would be how we mark that on the forum.

Feel free to unspoil mine as well, it might help you learn. Under normal circumstances, you shouldnt need to actually click generate post, btw. Discard/draw automatically generates the post for you.

So, because you have zane out, you cant summon another hero. Once you have Tech 2, Tech 3, or Heroes’ Hall, you can summon another hero or 2, but because zane is out, you are locked to zane for the moment. If you could kill zane, then you could get out Jaina, but alas, here we are.

Regarding tech: You had a reshuffle, draw 1, as marked in the post. You can identify which card was not in your deck (the draw 1 after the reshuffle), put that one back in your deck from your hand, then manually enter the 2 tech cards into the deck, and then click draw 1. It will generate a mostly accurate and fair turn. If you had not had a reshuffle, I would say just put the 2 cards in your discard and proceed as normal.

And given that you need to rewind to fix the turn error:

Recreate the board state from the beginning of your turn, put the cards in the deck, discard, etc in the sheet in the right place, then change the turn number, starting gold, and then simply proceed with your turn. There will be errors in the post that is generated regarding starting hand and such, but the gist of the turn will be there which is enough for forum play.

If you need to rewind your game state, Google Sheets has automatic version control to do it for you. Saves a lot of hassle.
