He has to make a choice now: he can leave Rich Earth alone and let me get a bunch of free value from it, or he can tech in Versatile Style and spend gold and a card to get rid of it (and tech in one less thing to actually help him win). Either way, I gave up some tempo for economic advantage.

Didn’t hit any tech cards and he patrolled so that Rook can’t really do much damage. I would have loved to have played the Morningstar Flagbearer here to reduce the chance that Rampant Growth is effective, but I think (hope) that L8 Rook presents a pretty tough wall to break down. Sparring Partner and Doubling Barbarians sound fun, let’s see if I can get that combo to work!

Thoughts
Ok, he’s going Growth so I’m gonna tech Versatile Style to pop MoLaC or at worst, get rid of that ongoing Rich Earth advantage. On the other hand, I have a big buff Rook at max level, so seems silly not to try and combo Birds + EQ for a huge wrecking ball of advantage. Feels bad workering Sensei’s Advice now that I have the army to use it with, but I’m guessing it wouldn’t make much difference. I like spells like Sensei’s Advice much more as P1. Grappling Hook has been an MVP and costs 0, so I rarely worker it. My hand got wrecked, but I built a lot of good attacking options.

Thoughts
Well this is a dangerous game. I’ve got a lot of different lines to think about here. Above all else, Blooming Ancient must die. He probably has a second one in hand, but killing the 1st one means it costs him gold and time to really get the rune-rcoaster going. So, there are 2 lines that I see to kill Blooming Ancient:
-
Birds kill baby Wisps, Swole Rambasa from Sparring Partner and Sensei kills Treant, Regular Rambasa kills favor Wisp. He gets a gold and a card. Rook unstoppably walks over and punches out the BA.
-
Sparring Partner buffs Bird, pay 2, buffs other Bird, then Birds snipe BA.
The first line is better if he has MoLaC. The second is better if he does not and he just has another BA. If he gets to untap with all these units and cast MoLaC, it won’t matter if I can pop it with graves next turn, the damage will be massive. He would have 2 pandas, the centaur, cally, and the treant as real damaging units/heroes, then 3 wisps and the prospector left over. Buuut, they have to do damage and if Rook is still patrolling, that would be pretty rough for him. Plus, I don’t think he can play a 2nd BA, MoLaC, and Arg so he will have to choose to finally attack or to keep building up. And I’ve got an EQ plus Birds to punish building up excessively. Hmmmmm. OK choosing line 2. So I didn’t play this very well as P2 in terms of having the right cards tech’d to sync up with my deck cycling. Building Tech III here to bluff that even a turn ago I knew I was going for a Tech III unit is a hell of a bluff. On the other hand, a Surplus will help me rebuild my hand and assert my gold advantage. He went super low on cards for that BA move last turn, and I’m not giving him the benefit of killing his Tech/Scav. I’m not worried about Calamandra at all. I don’t think I lose if he has MoLaC but I know it’s really bad for me. if I were him, I would play MoLaC, suicide guys into Rook to trigger it (losing most of your cards which trigger BA really well), then clean up with Wisps. That does leave him a little soft to DeGrey, however. This will be interesting to see how it plays out! I’m really counting on Rook’s 16 virtual health to stall his aggression!
Also, all your Tech Buildings and Base should be untouched this game!

GG! I didn’t draw my Versatile Style off of the Surplus and I can’t quite kill the Overpowering Centaur (but even if I could, I don’t think it would save me).

I had Stampede in Hand so without Versatile Style or Snapback that was your last turn
I’ll play Purple this time.
Yeah, my draws lined up pretty bad and I didn’t tech well as P2. I never played a tech II card!
I also played my last turn pretty recklessly. I was worried about killing BA, but also worried about MoLaC. I could have broken your Tech II with my birds + Sensei and I think that just leaves you playing arg and getting a bunch of runes. I dunno, lots of mistakes on my side.
I’ll stick with White, rolled 53.
