Yes Ultimate spells are good, but not all work well as early game threats. Metamorphosis is the obvious example of a spell you need to play around, and I think it is the reason why Demonology is so popular right now.
But for example Feral Strike you don’t really want to play unless you have 8 gold, and I have yet to come up with a situation where I would want to use the Balance Ultimate spell.
