Growth eh? Smells like a Tech III rush to me. But teching Assimilate and Rewind to counter Tech II Growth, just in case. And Prynn can trash Tech III, if she’s around… but Cal can essentially assasinate at any time… Tower will detect, but only if Stalking Tiger hasn’t already triggered detection… That’d be pretty expensive to pull off, so I’ll build a Tower for now and see what happens.

Tbh, I thought after you cleared my board on T3 I was sunk, but I’ve had a couple of turns to recover and feel a bit steadier (stunned that Tinkerer is around to activate his ability!). Seems like Origin Story might have been well timed and/or the shuffler took pity on me, and I got a little breathing room.
And I am surprised to see (2!) Blooming Elms - figured you were shaping to rush Tech III. But I did tech Assimilate last turn when I saw you’d gone Growth, and just have to hope I can sift through my deck to find it…

I am wondering about arrival fatigue and if I can immediately exhaust the Elm to add runes to something.
Based on that, I’m going to proceed as if I can use the Elm now, but we can retcon if required.
Activate Elm to put three +1/+1 runes on Nullcraft.
So, reading Nullcraft closely, my take is that it can take +1/+1 runes from the Elm as Elm’s using an ability, rather than a (buff or debuff) spell. Again, if I’ve screwed this up we can retcon.

Blooming Elms… uh didn’t see that coming! Greens’s got lotsa ways to get +1/+1 runes out… I’m really hoping to fish Assimilate out of my deck and snatch one before things get too out of hand. I’ll play Temporal Research first, and then peek with Vir - which’ll give me a little better than 50/50…
OK, no dice on TR… and now I come to it, Vir’s only 1 in 3 to fish up Assimilate… I think I’d still better try it.

I think I can use Nullcraft to destroy the other Elm - would be a strong counter to the Elms, but leaves Tech III as a threat. If I kill Calamandra instead, that leaves an Elm to each of us, and a buffed up tiger can’t get through both Argonauts. Leaving the other Elm on the table means I could potentially Assimilate that too… greedy… seems riskier but let’s try it.
Ah. Hmm. So Kidnapping’s relevant to units, and the rulebook is a bit more specific about units and heroes and when they can attack. Here’s the full sentence I quoted from.
So based on that, as Elm is not attacking, and it is now the following turn, seems like abilities could be activated?
Looking at the Rules Questions thread, it seems folks tend to agree that without haste the arrival fatigue continues to apply to assimilated buildings. But I’m not sure I agree, otherwise the rules would read
I might ask the question (again) in that thread to see if/where I’m going wrong.
Having said that I’d like to just play on per the current community consensus on the rules so will retcon my turn.
In the end Nullcraft pinged your base for 1 instead of attacking Cal, and I played Fargo instead of Sentry. Here’s the updated turn.

Much (as in, the outcome of the game “much”) will depend on the cards that come off the deck for Termporal Research here methinks. Rewind sounds good, but I don’t think I can afford it. Prynn, maxband, TR, Rewind = 2 + 6 + 2 + 4 = 14 - ewf. Midori is pretty threatening with 5 ATK and flying, so probably need to Origin Story there. Prynn + Origin Story + TR = 2 + 3 + 2, leaves 5 for whatever comes off the deck Fargo + Golgort would be nice… too many units in there cost 3. It’s tempting to tech even more things because of the reshuffle. Like… Stewardess would be spot on. #whatcouldgowrong
AAAND…Rewind and Rememberer. Balls. Both perfectly useless. Deck building game needs work I think - Remember and Reaver… they read quite well, but getting them into play effectively is another matter. Still, TR at least helps with hand draw, and I think I can hold out for another turn, but wow, woulda been good to have the cards to defend Tech III this turn. At least if I do pull the archon I can discard for a time rune on Shimmer Ray.

OK. I thought maxbanding Prynn to trash one of these Moss Ancients might be an idea, but they’re Untargetable. So that’s that.
Can I survive long enough for Shimmer Ray and upgraded Nullcraft to take down the base? Seems iffy.
Have a pretty decent hand for walling up… Stewardess, Golgort, Argonaut, Fargo = 3 + 3 + 3 + 2 = 11 - is affordable, and a fair few hit points. 3 + 4 + 4 + 3 = 14 health to wade through. Plus SQL Armour and Max Geiger is still hanging in there, we’re up to 18. I can calculate it out (further) but I don’t see too many other options here, so I’ll just go for it and hope codexnewb doesn’t have too many more surprises for me.
Argh, wait, Cal has applied resist 1 to all the squirrels (remembered her midband this time, heh), and I can’t afford to both bounce one and play Fargo. Not sure it’ll make a huge difference, but maybe better to play Prynn, float the gold and keep the extra card to discard.
