Yeah Cala + hounds are surprisingly hard to out value. I wonder if its better to go for the red starter even with the off color spells penalty. Hopefully someone else tries it out as I won’t be playing, I think blood + truth might be the best thing going on with all the other comboes nerfed out viability.
This game, I think I played too scared. I didn’t progress my board in any way and spent tons of gold just keeping you off tech II. I think my turn 6 I should have let vandy live and gone to Tech III. Free Speech was a bad tech, I think Murkwook allies would have been solid.
I did a short 8 deck IRL tournament with Moby a couple of weeks back and fell in love with your three heros with red starter. Go-to plan was feral strike, which hounds help a lot to set up, but also just Truth tech 2 with Cal’s midband is super strong and blood+quince obviously as well. Thanks a lot for pointing me into this direction, would not have seen this option otherwise.
And it really is a pity to hear that you’re not going to join the next one. Will be looking forward to a later one with you returning to the stage.
You did not go for the strongest strategy with that start. A maxband Cala is precious. You had the P1 and hero kill advantage. So don’t waste it on L1 Jaina and Vandy. Keep it alive for a turn 5 feral strike which would probably end the game. Or hide him behind some truth tech 2. I was thinking for hours how to get rid of Cala and then whiffed my turn3 hand with the gliders. So ideal situation for you.
When going for blood you were not fully committed to that. These are the finals and I always commit 100% for my strategy so you should do the same to win. Playing the tree and treant slowed you down and I could come back. Dilluting the deck with stuff like free speech were not helpful either.
