I can go Garth + Skeleton, or Thieving Imp. The former lets me use all my gold next turn, where I can’t otherwise, but Garth and Skeleton either don’t kill an attacking Zane, or they go in Elite and are easily killed. The latter puts steve down on cards, and MonoRed is generally more card-hungry than gold-hungry early on. It also gives me a 2/2 that can stand in Squad Leader, and defend against anything that might come out hasted. That would be nice, but I think I need the wider board, and not having a hero down might cause issues.
Putting Garth in front stops Zane killing the Skeleton for free. He might die, but it would take Zane + Mad Man + Makeshift Rambaster, Zane + 1g + Charge, or Zane + Scorch, and those all require skipping a worker. It’s also at a measly 1g/-2c advantage, so I can’t imagine that would be considered worth it. Well, it’s 3g/-1c using the first combination, but that’s unlikely. They all leave Zane open to be killed by the Skeleton, anyway.
