Thoughts

Nasty pressure deck with some real tempo swings, access to both Graveyard barrow and Graveyard Hyperion. Skeletons will help to protect vital buildings so I need to lean on Lobber and fire spells. Here, Bombaster doesn’t die to Deteriorate, and I can throw out a Dog to guard against StW while also setting up for a burst turn to control the board decisively. Actually, let’s BRO to deal with a potential Jandra.

Thoughts

I’m probably looking at a Zane follow-up here, that’s gonna be rough. If I cast Deteriorate, the best I can do is patrol a Skeleton as Elite and hope he doesn’t have a Mad Man to trade with it, as 2 attack should be enough to give both Zane and the Ogre pause. Alternately, I could drop Jandra, in which case he would presumably have to spend more resources for the trade, or choose not to engage. That certainly seems like the safer play.

Yeah I changed my mind partially through and forgot to edit it. Lemme fix that for posterity.

I have a few options here, I think I’m in striking distance of just applying heavy burn. This turn I can kill Jandra with BRO and Mad Man, then Pillage for free and have 3 gold to work with, 2 to summon Zane and one to tech 1. seems good. Lobber has haste and I won’t have Drakk out. this gives me 6 damage this turn, spicy. that’s even better than Scorch and Zane, skip worker, trade in Dog. Wait what do you mean Nautical Dog isn’t a pirate? INJUSTICE. Ah never mind let’s just go for broke 8 base damage baby

Thoughts

My first line is to trade with Dog, midband Zane, kill Garth and maxband. 3 gold leaves 1 for worker, 1 for tech 1. alternative is to Max Zane, scavenger the skeleton, worker, Zane kills Garth and 2 more damage goes face. Right now I’m leaning into the latter because having 10 health to chew through is pretty doable. I also do need to kill off Zane so I can start with the Fire burn spells. I think that’s fine, Bloodlust or Now means a dead Zane and one of those is surely being teched. I’ve disrupted the plan of Neko’s deck, and gained a significant advantage in base pressure. Tech 2 isn’t coming online soon. I think I value 2 damage now over the promise of future Crash Bombers that I might be able to set up next turn.

Hmmm. I might have thrown the game by not teching Sharks last turn. I knew there was no way Neko could kill Zane, and Sharks here would have murdered the Patrol Zone and let me hit base for 2 this turn, plus 2 if Dog lived and wasn’t deteriorated. That lets me Max Zane later on and more cheaply benefit from the maxband, and I have Sharks available again.

Thoughts

Crash Bomber should finish my core, need those guys for Pillage damage. and they come with free base damage. to that end, I’m building tech 1 instead of a worker because I don’t need all that gold and it’s more important to threaten Bombers

@Nekoatl’s turn!

Where’s Jaina standing?

Fixed, defaulted to squad lead

I’ll fold here. I don’t have a way to stop you from piling on base damage from spells, and I don’t see a path to break your base before you can finish off mine. GG WP! @FrozenStorm

WP carpe. Your worker skipping baffled me at first, but it turned out to be the right move.

Carpe going for base burn is one of my favourite things to see on the forum. Good job, man.

I’m telling you guys, free speech!

GG! My red burn is a precarious mix of opportunism, instinct, and careful calculation. I basically saw the chance to do 8 on turn 2 and went “eh, I think I can close this out before I crumple on tempo”. Then it was just trying to optimize the blazes out of my base damage.

Because I absolutely had to respect the midgame threat posed by Necro/Blood or Necro/Present and decided to make sure the game ended before then.

Just wait until I learn to play Anarchy, then watch out world.
