hmmmm, not a great opening hand…might be going the imp route this game…

things to worry about

  1. peace engine
  2. finesse engine
  3. injunction lockdown
  4. art of war base rush (aka anti dark pact), given my hand, this is what i am most nervous about to start. might need an early doomgraps to counter…

What are my options?

  1. Imp/shadowblade (little expensive as P1)
  2. finesse engine (weak against injunction lockdown)
  3. skeletons - judgment day can wreck…
  4. meta - no easy counter, might be best. just tough to set up.

Jandra T1, Imp T2 is tempting, but i think that he can counter that pretty easily. he can just put Oni out front and i couldn’t do anything about it. plus, MFT Jandra his T2 would suck. no need for archery since i have deteriorate to counter aven. so i think that honestly PBR is the best route here. PBR makes a hero out front a bad option. worst case scenario, he drops TD out front, Oni backline. That’s a 50/50, and if he doesn’t have TD, then i can really take some baord control. But if he drops TD, i can go with Imp, Garth/Sk, mid vandy, etc… Don’t need to decide right now since my T1 won’t change either way.

really quick, other options he has are newsman (no 0) and aven. i would GG 6, worker 5, tech one 4, imp 1, pbr runs into newsman (prevent MFT). at that point, might just tech a discord.


worker the summon skeletons since that seems most unlikely. Future workers are probably jandra, archery, imp, maybe jav or haunt?

well, looks like i lucked out with no TD or BI. newsman was expected, bigby was not. i think this gives me space to bring our a hero and estabish some board presence. PBR running into Newsman will help prevent any Manufactured Truth shinanigans. 2 gold loss now, but i can make it up later since newsman is basically out of commission. worst case haunt can handle him next turn.

want to tech a fencer and discord. however, garth with liches bargain is looking super tempting since there is no threat of max oni right now. it would also help me to prevent his tech 2 early. he can respond with bigby and judgment day, but he’ll need 10 gold for it (meaning a down turn to afford the float). he can always discord, but probably won’t go that route given bigby is out there right now. even if he used JD, my hero’s will survive…sort of synergizes with meta anyways… the ONLY thing is those damn General’s Hammers. They would wreck me in a turn or two.

okay, playing it simple, going double fencer. allows for some aggression, and i can dark pact turn after once newsman is dead.

hmmm, assuming he teched two fencers (seems like his best option), i definitely dont want to kill that newsman right now. bigby is a surprisingly tough p2 hero to play against. I think I need to be willing to part from meta, put vandy our front, and just force some favorble trades for me if he wants to be aggressive.

time to decide my tech route and win condition. i still think that meta is a good option later, so hero’s hall hopefully isnt a total waste.

finesse engine - i could counter judgment day with graveyard here, bu then he can general’s hammer it to death. however, that is quite an expensive endevevor, and i really only need two turns with finesse engine up and running.

meta - if it happens, great, if not, oh well.

demon (balckhand dozers) - could counter peace engine pretty well. allow my hero’s to get at his garrisons on backline.

-necro - at this rate, probably too slow to get skeleton hoard out there. also, ive tried running liches bargain against peace enginer, and LB loses every time. especially when he can draw into discord so easily.

i think that he can counter me with judgement day no matter what, that is what the hero’s hall is for. i just need to get the fineese enginer rolling because at least it relies on tech 1 and tech 2 units, so injunctino dosn’t TOTALLY shut it down. teching a maestro and a starlet. fingers crossed i don’t draw the maestro.

ill use vandy max to wall up against a possible huge swing turn for him. hopfully fizzle out its effectiveness. also threat of maxband might forc a tower on his part.

well, i think that’s the end for me. nicely played! GG!! bigby was quite the odd hero to dance around early game. you did a great job patrolling too! i also made plenty of mistakes, but that Guide was the end of my lats ray of hope.

Good Game!! i think dropping Maestro first was a critical moment and i gotta admit that drawing it on T4 was a huge relief for me, otherwise it would’ve been very difficult… i was hopeful with the last lawful search draw though since i had other cards that could have dealt with the board and break thru like two steps and arrest but obviously Guide was the best of all, and overall i felt pretty lucky about my draws in this game… Bigby was not my first choice… i was just scared that i will end up with crippled Oni… i was hoping to put some injuction presussure and you’d go for lich’s bargain but that was a mislead, :slight_smile: .
