I wouldn’t be opposed to changing both Arresting Constable and Guardian of the Gates to also effect heroes.
Yes, law is a good point. For me the hero is the biggest issue. Midband and maxband abbility require to tap, so you have to choose. He is the only hero who has that problem (besides jaina, but here maxband just improves the midband). My suggestion would be for the maxband: 0g draw a card, limited to once per turn. That makes him to an attractive alternative to garth, setsuki or virr.
But that would be something for autumn to test.
I think bigby isn’t that bad, he levels up cheaply which is always nice. T2 units are really the biggest issue, two of them which have been mentioned several times so far are unplayable.
Yes tech 2 needs some improvement as well (just be careful, law tech 2 is all about delaying the development of the opponent for the very strong tech3). But anyway i don’t need strong tech2 strategies for all 3 colors in my deck. For example garth is in a lot of decks but his tech2 play is hardly used. So just considering spells, tech 1 and hero i always found better alternatives than bigsby.
A new idea I had for Arresting Constable (though maybe not exactly a light touch): let it ready and arrest again, like Spartner, for say $3.
We wilkl have a balance patch 3.0 thread before too long, im sure.
Can I just point out that it was a huge oversight that this thread wasn’t titled “Balance Patch 2: Electric Boogaloo”?
Another idea for guardian: whenever an opponment attacks guardian and he deals combat damage disable another unit.
kind of what the demonology guy does already
Yes, just disable not exhaust. And no heros otherwise too strong.
what about just giving the guardian untargetable? Seems like that gives him something good and makes him unique to voidblocker.
Currently I am missing a bit the purpose of the buffs. Do we want to make some colours a bit more interesting to play for fun games, or do we want to make them able be part of a deck that can win a tournament? If it is second we need to take bigger steps.
With the buffs it with clear that Troq is still unplayable and Offkilter was the only brave guy willing to prove it.
The objective I am aiming at is simply to reduce the dominance of certain incredibly strong cards.
Hopefully, this will have a secondary effect of cresting more diversity in decks, due to not being quite so overwhelmed by these consistent and strong strategies, but I can’t guarantee it.
I am not currently advocating for any card buffs. All I am trying to do is knock some power off the top.
If that is the common understanding, we should stop the discussion of buffs
I do not presume to believe that everyone’s goal is the same. I’m stating why I began the discussion.
The end goal would be to have all specs playable at a competitive level. That is the goal of every balance team for every game. Hence buffing the worst specs and nerfing the strongest. There are good arguments as to how to get to that goal, but you can assume it will be a long iterative process and I don’t think there is any reason why you can’t start from both ends of the spectrum.
So, feedback on my experience playing Bashing:
Most of my games were against Blood specs, which makes Troq’s ultimate weaker, and since his ultimate is probably the only thing extra about him it was easy to pass on him.
In general, it seems that the current meta strongly favours ways to get large amounts of mediocre units to create overwhelming strategies. “The Boot” made sense as a counter to “Two-Step,” but @FrozenStorm definitely called me a fool for playing Twilight Baron, so it’s clearly off meta for “The Boot” to counter anything much. I don’t think the attempt to buff “the boot” are relevant because it’s a specific counter to off-meta strategies.
The one game I did win the weird Midori - Iron Man cheese was so strong that I am of the opinion that I won in turn 1. I’m not sure River could have done anything to stop that build, at least so long as nimble fencers were teched in turn 2.
I was pretty bitter about the Vandy nerfs in my last game, where I was against that monster strategy of Lich’s Bargain threatening to combo with Drakk’s midband. I suggest nerfing Dark Pact the same way that Twilight Baron is nerfed, rather than increasing the cost, but @FrozenStorm assures me that I have no understanding of why Dark Pact is OP, which is probably valid because I lose most of my games.
Sorry about my absence… I’ve had lots of moving stress and covid in past months. When I have energy I’ll post the proof-of-concept game engine and such.
I personally think that if Vandy midbanded at 4 instead of 3 it would take a TON of pressure off that card without really stopping her from still being very good. Any hero that levels at 3 and 5 and has that kind of stat gain is going to be really good.
I think more is definitely required for Bashing to be relevant, but not sure what that would be. I think letting Torq level up sooner would help a lot.
I agree that Troq leveling up sooner would be the biggest help.
For troq probably the only way. Level up at 3 and 5. He ist still weaker comparing his other abilites with vandy or cala, but a neutral bulky hero would be worth playing.
