It seems a great chance to play unusual MUs!
Let me in!
count me in! This sounds like fun
Tentatively, here is the seeding:

For the first round, I randomly determined that player 11 (Ivan) will get a bye this week.
That means the matchups will be:
mysticjuicer/Three Headed Monkey
mastrblastr/ArthurWynne
flagrantangles/snoc
Niijima-san/UTRALAW
Fusxfaranto/MysticDeadman
CKR/neigutten
GutterOwl/Hobusu
SouthpawHare/variable
MR75/vengefulpickle
thehug0naut/FaceOnMars
Castanietzsche/hamvvar
Of course, this will all change if we get another entrant, but this at least gives you a feel of how this will play out.
Shouldn’t the highest rated player play against the lowest rated player in the first round?
In general with Swiss tournaments, the highest ranked players always play each other, so I was just doing it that way. I’ll check the standard rules for first round seeding, and adjust as needed.
EDIT: Challonge uses best/worst seeding, which is authoritative enough for me. I’ll switch them around.
EDIT: Fixed
EDIT: Oops. I misread the docs: CHALLONGE!: Swiss Tournaments. Need to update again.
EDIT: ok, should be right now
Ah, sorry, I was thinking it was going to be double elimination for done reason
If you guys need literally one more player I’ll sign up! Otherwise give the spot to someone else.
Excellent. Happy to make it to an even number!

When will final pairings be decided so we can start playing matches?
Signups closed at 12pm EST (3 hours ago) so the pairings above are final. I’ll be sending out match scheduling messages this evening, but if you want to get started with scheduling/playing, go for it.
The Long Odds tournament is officially inaugurated!
I’m on a train at the moment, so no play-by-play unfortunately. Just me (ArthurWynne) vs flagrantangles!
Which if I’m reading the rules right, means 4.5+4.0+5.0+4.0 = 17.5 points for me, and 6 points for flagrantangles.
Thanks for being so easy to schedule with, angles, and thanks for five great games!

5/5: 18
5.5/4.5: 12
6.5/3.5: 3
7/3: 2
FYI, for everyone reporting their matches, please remember to include the point totals for you and your opponent, as this is what I will use to determine who won the set in the historical MU chart. This will be the first tournament where you could conceivably have won the majority of the individual games, but lost the set on points.
Me vs snoc
18 points to 8
for 6
for 4
for 4
x2 for 6 apiece.
Snoc didn’t really dig into the numbers and just played who he thought would be the most fun, which I can respect. I, however, mined her best matchups for points.
EDIT: her best matchups that I thought I could win. I didn’t really want to go Perse here.
If snoc had won game 5 we would have been tied at 12 points apiece. Are there tiebreakers in place for this?
Unless I’m convinced otherwise: ties are broken by average points-per-win.
Well played, some fun matches that were close towards the end and where both sides could have won.
Southpaw Hare vs @Hobusu
= 4.5
= 5.0
= 5.0
= 5.0
= 5.0
Southpaw Hare 15.0 - 9.5 Hobusu
Southpaw Hare wins!
Game 4 was amazing because @SouthpawHare started by playing two of his Healing Spheres turn 1 and was able to get all four up at once for a couple turns. When I finally dodged into a throw to remove them, he said it was probably for the best since he’d have decked himself out soon anyway…
Ivan vs hamvvar - 17.0: 12.0
=> 0.0 - 7.0
=> 6.0 - 0.0
: => 6.0 - 0.0
=> 5.0 - 0.0
=> 0.0 - 5.0
I didn’t know that Jaina has better MU vs Val.
Great set, mate. Very tense to the end. Thanks for the games
