Sounds good Just double checking you got to see my discard pile as well, it is:
Aged Sensei
Glorious Ninja
Fox’s Den School
Bird’s Nest
One other thought I had; if you haven’t already installed https://www.autocardanywhere.com/, I would highly recommend it. Really helpful for quick-referencing exact card text, whether you’ve been playing on the forums for a week or going on 4 years
Well that went sideways in a hurry! I was expecting for my board to be pretty clear, but not expecting your board to be quite so full! Martial Mastery surprisingly solid T1 choice!

Thoughts
Gosh! Free Speech woulda been a good card to play last turn!
Well there was a reshuffle in there and I’ve lost track of Grappling Hook. Macciatus means that the illusions will survive being targeted, but I want to avoid losing SQL abilities, and getting sparkshotted. Also, Glorious Ninja is out there somewhere, which is really going to ruin my board (slash win the game).
I do have got some fairly econmical blockers so I’ll block up and we’ll see what happens.
Wow, that was a brutal turn. You just took down 4 units and a hero only lost a bird and a hit point from Rambasa. I don’t think I can keep up. Fox’s Den School + Glorious Ninja in one hand is super strong!

You know, I discarded the idea of a Tower because you had safe attacking out, and I thought it would not effectively counter the birds. But I should have been thinking of detector.
I will concede the game at this point (look at that board of yours!!) - GG WP!
I’ll start another game as P1. If you’d prefer to play as P1 for a few games in a row that’s fine too - just post your own P1 turn and we’ll start from there.

Well gee, really feel like this first two hands have not had great cards in them! And pulling Brave Knight on the Lawful Search… blargh!
I much prefer the Aven smacking my base to smacking Rook. I could kill Quince here but I’d likely just get Rook killed back. So let’s not do that. Instead, how about teching Thunderclap, throwing Primus down to get rid of Aven, and get Bird’s Nest b/c it’s also just good

Bird’s Nest is a distinct and concerning possibility, so let’s have Newsman counter that. Really feels like I’m struggling to keep up already. Hopefully Jail will help me catch up a bit.
Morningstar Flagbearer
Smoker
Sensei’s Advice
Fox Primus
Safe Attacking
Events of Turn:

Tech 2 cards in (except turn 1)

Safe Attacking (6)
Sensei’s Advice Primus and Savior Monk (5)
Monk kills SQL, armor absorbs 2
Rook and Smoker kill Newsie, you rs draw 1 and to be clear, this happens before you tech new cards but after Newsman joins the discard pile. lmk if that doesn’t make sense

OK, I had definitely been doing my Technician draws incorrectly prior to this. Thanks for that clarification, much appreciated. And now I can see that my tech choices this turn are that much further away because a reshuffle was triggered before I could put them in. Not something I’d considered before now as I had been Doing It Wrong™.
Yeah, I just don’t think I’m going to be able to get back on the board here. I was hoping Jail might hold you up a bit, but Safe Attacking + Sensei’s Advice were just the wrong cards for you to be holding.
I would like to continue, but I’ll have to concede this game here - it’s going to be a bit too punishing to play out.
The Blue starter deck seems really quite tough to establish tempo with. There are some good tools to slow an opponent down with, but that’s not the same thing as getting ahead. Will have to try some new ideas.
It is indeed tough to get tempo as blue. You’ve correctly identified Aven as a key part of getting good trades early. One other thing to try, though, is Onimaru. His frenzy makes him a formidable attacker.
Would you like to swap decks for a game, to get a feel for what the other is doing and have me show how I would approach the blue side?
