[MMM1] GAME 7: P1 Akiata (Green) vs P2 Codexnewb (Purple)

I don’t think this’ll have a huge bearing on things one way or another, but out of interest…

Is sparkshot an ability? Do you have to pay $1 to target wisp with this as Wisp is in Lookout?

It’s an ability, but it doesn’t target, so no resist payment is required.

Can you wrap it up from here?

Thoughts

Long way back from here.

@Codexnewb’s turn!

edit #2: no max vir, just summon seers and no mech token…

edit: pay gold for 2nd NOW

well, i can’t finish it, but im still feeling pretty good about it. ferocity lasts until your next upkeep, so it’s tricky to play around. i think this is solid though.

woops, updated turn above. nice catch!

Er, warp gate disciple also costs 1 to use his ability

well this is embarrassing. updated once again. this time no max vir, and no mech token.

GG WP! You put those horselords to good use - nicely done. I’ll get the next thread up shortly.

You had this game @Akiata, let’s look at where it went wrong

Horselords are not the answer here. They are almost never the answer, as this game demonstrated.

Just to make sure it’s clear, you can feral Strike for things outside the spec you tech into. With that in mind, 2x gigadon would have been better here. But best would have easily been giga + potent basilisk, and here’s why: it would have nullified battle suits. With that out of the way, you don’t even need to attack, you can patrol huntress in front, keep cala healthy for her resist, and play for a huge swing on your next turn.

Horselords are tempting but as you saw this game, they can and usually do actively harm your chances of winning the game

Yeah, see, I read the “must have tech buildings” incorrectly and thought I had to stay on spec with my choices.

Definitely wanted to put a Potent Basilisk into play, but at the time I think I got a bit muddled (which lead to errors in the turn) and concluded I had already specced them both.

I definitely felt like I was not quite ruthless enough this game in general, but yeah, playing the Horselords obviously cost me the game. But I did learn a couple of things (mainly that I should be paying more attention).
