Thoughts
Right, no 1-drops. Not loving this hand actually.
Oni+Aven. Oni --> SQL. Would fall to midband Rook + Smoker. Aven would not be able to get the kill on Rook next turn either.
Porky. Dunno if it’d be good value to midband Rook just to kill Porky. Means Aven’s in the discard pile, but I maintain 5 cards, and I’m not gifting levels.
OK, not confident of a hero surviving until my next turn, so I’ll have to hedge with my Tech choices.
So several ideas here.
a) Arrest Aged Sensei. Not terrific value, but nice not to have to worry about his buff next turn. Though I still have to worry about Sensei’s Advice.
b) Get Reputable Newsman down and prevent Bird’s Nest being cast. Pretty hard to put him in the back line, and he’s toothless on patrol. Still, stopping the Birds is a big priority.
$7 to play with.
Worker $6, Hero $4, Newsman $2, Arrest Sensei $0. Skip Tech 1. Stay on 5 cards.
Or…
Worker $6, Hero $4, Newsman $2, Building Inspector $1, Traffic Director $1. Skip Tech 1, Down to 3 cards. Hmm, might have legs. I think this way I fill all my patrol slots, so grappling hook becomes a bit more unweildy. It’ll take a bit of effor tto get through porky, and I’m hoping to force a choice between killing a hero or knocking over Newsy.
Interesting times indeed. Y’arright? I’m lucky to have already been WFH full-time and my wife stays home w/ our 1y.o., so only thing different rn is 6y.o. is also home from school. Minimal disruption for us, <3 out to all w/ bigger impact and take your time w/ this. Good for distraction but not important in the grand scheme
Low risk to get hit back hard enough to lose rook, so I’ll leave him on 7, take the oni kill (probably should have patrolled oni backline), and continue forward.
Yeah we’re all fine here. I don’t have an extra room to setup a home office in so WFH with two young kids is somewhat challenging. But it’s nice to be home with everyone.
I’ve overextended to get to Rook here again, but really struggled to come up with any better ideas.

Summon Judge Bigby Hayes (2/3) - ($6)
In the matter of the court’s Jurisdiction Judge Hayes finds that - ($4)
The court has the authority to issue an Injunction against the Whitestar Order’s Tech I building - ($1)
Sparring Partner is therefore disbarred and exhausted.
And in related news, the Judge also reveals the (Manufactured) Truth… - ($0)
Reputable Newsman is in fact Sparring Partner.
“Sparring Partner” spars with Building Inspector.
Building Inspector (now 2/2) and Traffic Director trade with Rook.
Judge Hayes, purely coincidentally, is elected to midband privileges.
Well I spent several tedious hours on this turn. I think Jurisdiction wasn’t a great tech choice and effectively left me with no good options here (but many of them, so it took a long time to think each one through). Injunction clearly would have been better, but it’s unusual that Frozen leaves an Injunction sized gap in his patrols.
Fairly straight forward for White to get to Bigby. But I gave up looking for better options.
My thinking was to fill up patrol slots so as to nullify grappling hook. With Porky out of SQL, you could take Newsman down and get the birds out, or generally make (arguably) favourable trades against my 1-drops.
I also thought/hoped that midbanding Rook would be too expensive and that I could punish the investment the following turn. But at $1 Sparring Partner was a good card for the situation (though something I would have anticipated had I thought a bit harder about it). And though I was able to get Rook the next turn, it cost me a bit too much to do it.
I can understand that desire but I think it’s a bit myopically focused on birds, and perhaps Elite Training would better serve in combating the birds and swinging momentum. But I’m not certain.
I will start us a new game tonight late or tomorrow, I’ve started a new client at work so it’s been kinda busy during the days!
