interesting opening. ogre is a relatively easy counter, even with wither it kills the Ninja. more like he blocks and ogre gets to trade or maybe mad man helps me get a hero kill. floating the other 2 gold to make zane extra scary. but really I want to tank and rush tech 2 growth. wither on rook here would suck, but that’s blocked easily with lookout at least at this stage. probably his ideal play is just tenderfoot hero tech 1. I can expect fencers I think, but really his only chance is breaking my tech 2. and even then I have zane shenanigans.

Thoughts
hmm there’s enough haste options for him to do a real number on any defenders I aim for. I could kill river and tenderfoot, but it’s pretty costly. either 2 or 3 cards. so rook as defense. I need to make sure anything he uses to kill rook also dies, barring wither. Midband rook is really expensive though. throwing out 2 1/1s and an arg though, Guess I’m betting for fencers over discord…

Just realized there was a winning play there. I thought I was one short of lethal, but I could have killed blooming and moved the last rune to get the lethal.

That may be, but it’s also a hard match-up. MoLaC on its own is really tough to deal with without some explicit upgrade removal (Versatile Style/Assimilate). Add in Blooming Ancient on cheap red critters and Arg’s inate freebie critters, and early MoLaC triggers from hasty red and Rook’s birds, and getting Tech II up is almost an auto-win for him.
I don’t know if there’s anything you could have done to break his Tech before then, given that you only drew 1 fencer on Turn 3. Arg made for solid defense (and having Rook as backup didn’t hurt).
Maybe starting with Oni instead of Fruit Ninja/River, and teching Bootcamp or Elite Training to help you break through early? He might not have been able to handle an early Max Oni, either (if you could get him there incrementally with some hero kills), and Art of War would stop that Tech II nonsense. The trick would be getting him to survive Zane/red.
Discord is also pretty potent. But the main point to be made is growth engine is generally faster than peace engine, so you have to plan on tripping up the growth engine while still setting up the peace engine. Ideally you setup for a double tech kill, but with Zane retaliation that can have a bit of backfire.
