Right, attempt number two. Going for a Lich’s Bargain early will help, but I’m also worried about what I do if FrozenStorm gets his Skeletons going first again. Crashbarrows aren’t so scary against a wall of Skeletons. Bugblatters are, but I’d still need a Crashbarrow or an Ogre for offensive threat.

Not entirely sure this is the best placing for my Skeletons, but choosing between paying a gold and giving me a card should make Deteriorate a non-trivial decision for FrozenStorm.

Thoughts

The threat of Lobber makes attacking with Garth here risky. Lobber + Deteriorate, in particular, gets a kill on Garth if I only summon a Skeleton here. Instead of Skeleton + Graveyard, I’m therefore considering Summon Skeletons, which I wouldn’t normally do. Even then, Deteriorate would allow a kill with a single Lobber, if FrozenStorm is willing to trade his Skeletons away. Since the outcome’s the same, I think I go ahead with building the Graveyard.

I’m wondering whether to just go with double Bargain: if Garth does die, I’d have a higher chance of having one in hand when Garth can come back in. It slows me down for Tech II, but maybe I’m better off picking up Bloodlust + Crash Bomber first anyway.

Right, I’ve got various options, depending on how hard I want to go into Bargains. I can expect both midband Drakk and Lord to come out, due to the levels on his Garth, so I can expect almost all of his attackers to kill. All five of them. Only exception is if I put Garth in front.

  1. No Bargains! Maxband Drakk, Crash Bomber, skip worker, Crash Bomber and Skeleton Javelineer kill a Skeleton each. Remaining Skeletons kill Drakk by themselves.
  2. No Bargains! Midband Drakk, Skeleton Javelineer kills a Skeleton, play Crash Bomber, worker, float.
  3. Garth + one Bargain, tech up, skip worker.
  4. Garth + one Bargain, Summon Skeletons, worker or Crash Bomber.
  5. Garth + one Bargain, Skeleton, worker, Crash Bomber, float.
  6. Garth + double Bargain, worker, Crash Bomber. Tanks both economies, but suddenly I have eight units on the board. FrozenStorm can take out a few of them just by bringing in Drakk or a Lord, so I’d have to make use of the remaining units pretty damn quickly. I might actually be best off putting Garth in front, so I can bring in Drakk myself.

Teching up would be nice, but I think my best option against mass Skeletons is Crash Bombers, so I don’t urgently need it. If I can keep up a sufficiently large screen, I might find a window to steal some Lords, even better if I can get them killed while my Graveyard is still out.

Sharks there would have been enough to get to the Lords, which would have really sunk my boat temporarily, and maybe you can make it to gunships before I apply enough pressure? Not sure, but yeah that was a tough spot to be in! I do like your version of this deck a little better than mine; Zane’s more measured and gives the deck more consistent haste + gunships, whereas Jaina’s really only here for the Lobbers and the mixup Hotter Fire line, which just isn’t that great by comparison. Just luck of the draw I got P1 and a good trade on your Garth T3! The Graveyard t2 when you’re teching 2x LB was probably a little greedy, but you also didn’t have a lot of options with that hand so I get it.

Sharks are so expensive, though, and I’m hoping to find a way to cut through those Skeletons keep your deck under pressure at Tech I. The Lords get out of control so quickly, I don’t know if I could get to Tech III quickly enough. Maybe with Tanks, their health is pretty high.

Anyway, good luck in the finals! I don’t think I did this deck justice, but it was good enough to finally get me out of the 2-3 slump. Well picked, model.

Yeah sharks are expensive but just picture, if you will, what drawing Sharks right after that double LB would mean, instead of bloodlust:

Suddenly all but one of my backline skeletons is dead from the tower damage, and Garth is just sittin around as an injured maxband. Maybe doesn’t end up mattering but I’m a fat-ish cycle away from Summon Skeletons, LB, and my Lords, I’d probably have to switch gears to Blood t2 to make sure you didn’t race me to gunships.

OK, that is pretty good. I’d have to skip a worker again since Crash Bomber needs resist cost to kill, so it’d be a long slog to Tech III but I’d have had a shot. Maybe we just need to experiment with this matchup at some point :slight_smile:

To be fair, some of my success with this deck was due to the fact that I had a tech template to work from: Jadiel won the tournament with this deck once, and then no one ever picked it up again until now.

I didn’t realize Jad had played this deck before! I didn’t remember anyone ever playing it before, but look at that, CAMS 17 huh?
