We have 7-13 attack available, against 10 patrolling defense, plus a mirror and a tower.

I think this is a good turn, there may be a better one?

Black: 6 gold
Red: 7 gold
Level Garth to 4 (3)
Garth ā€œkillsā€ mox
Jaina and Dog kill Newsman
Scorch Quince (4), finish him with skeleton token, garth to L6
Max Garth, putting Twilight Baron into play (2)
Bombaster (2)
Pillage blueā€™s 2 gold (3)
Pestering Haunt trades with BI
Deteriorate Mirror
Black worker + skeleton token (0)
Red worker + tech 1 (1)
Patrol with stuff

We need to pick other techs - presumably we tech garthā€™s ult also? For Red we could go with Lobbers for more pressure, or maybe a rickety mine would be safe now?

Iā€™m very much in favor of wiping their board. That leaves us with Jaina, Garth, Bombaster, Baron, and a skeleton token on the board vs. Mox and a Tower.

It brings Red down to three cards, though, and we have to worker Ogre or Mad Man. Iā€™d lean toward Ogre. Black probably workers Jandra and has five cards still, so thatā€™s fine.

We probably donā€™t patrol Baron because getting it Arrested would suck.

Going with EricFs turn in 3 hours unless there is major objection, but I will have to guess at tech if someone doesnā€™t speak up.

Black
Twilight Baron and ???
Worker Jandra

Red
Lobber x2 or Rickety Mine and ???
Worker Ogre

Well, I was trying to leave some openings for other people to contribute, but I guess not?

Black will tech Twilight Baron and Nether Drain
Red will tech Lobber and Gunpoint Taxman

Black workers Jandra, Red workers Mad Man (we donā€™t need more small fry)

Patrol:

Black:
Scavenger - Skeleton Token

Red:
Tech - Bombaster

Iā€™ll still wait in case there are other contributions.

[/quote]Same.

I was going to object to Nether Drain but then I realized that youā€™re planning to max Garth again. Okay. Tech and that patrol makes sense to me. Iā€™m a little unsure about how much utility weā€™re going to get out of Ogre for the rest of the game, vs. Mad Man as an instant poke which can go up to two damage with midband Drakk. But I also know that I tend to really really like Haste.

Iā€™m feeling pretty good about our board position here. I wouldnā€™t be surprised to see Garth get Origin Storied eventually, though.

Between Origin Story and Free Speech, Iā€™m reluctant to rely on any sort of spell-based strategy, especially Ultimates. But Nether Drain is a good versatile effect that can feed gold from Black to Red.

Yeah, thatā€™s very reasonable. Itā€™s not quite as good as Doom Grasp at shutting down opposing hero strategies, but itā€™s also much cheaper. And if we can keep using it to max Garth and heal him/get free units, itā€™ll more than pay for itself.

I had very limited access over the weekend and didnā€™t get around to posting until now. Your deadline will be Thursday Oct 27.

So, Defense:

4, 5 ā€¦ 1, 3 // tower: 4, Tech I: 5, Base: 28 <- note that our Pillage damage wasnā€™t reflected.

13, plus buildings
Offense:

8+8 gold
2, 2, 3, 4*
Sac Bombaster: +2 for 1
Level Jaina: +1 for 3, +2 for 6
Suicide Jaina, Play Zane: up to +6 for up to 7 <- this looks efficient
Sacrifice The Weak <- Very good?
Charge <- Maybe? Possible Targets: Taxman, Skeleton, just +1 ATK

11, plus additions.

The Maximize Sacrifice The Weak play is:

Pestering Haunt (Red: 8 gold, Black: 8 gold)
Charge on Haunt (6, 8)
Haunt trades with Traffic Director
Bombaster runs into Gilded Glaxx
Twilight Baron trades with Glaxx
Sacrifice the Weak to kill Brave Knight and Fading Argo (6,6)
Garth finishes off the Tower
Jaina hits something for 2
Make more stuff / workers / skeletons

I thought I had reflected the pillage damage, Iā€™ve edited.

charge only affects red units.

Ericā€™s turn is more or less what I came up with. Does anyone else want to weigh in, maybe offer input on workers or tech?

My main point of difference is that rather than using suicide Charge Haunt to kill the Traffic Director, Iā€™d use Midband Jaina. That saves Red a card, and costs 1 more gold, but gets more value out of the gold, imo. And then we still have the Haunt alive next turn.

Under the circumstances, we can probably go to tech 2 with both colors this turn if we want to, considering weā€™re wiping their board again.

TD is untargetable, in caphriels scenario.

Alright, alternate turn that doesnā€™t involve playing Charge on an illegal target:

Get gold (red: 8, black: 8)
Jaina suicides on Gilded Glaxx
Max Zane, pushing Brave Knight to elite (1,8)
Twilight Baron trades with Glaxx & Traffic Director
Sacrifice the Weak, killing Bombaster, Knight, and Fading Argo (1,6)
Worker Careless Musketeer (0, 6)
Zane blows up the Tower
Garth hits <> for 3
Make a skeleton (0, 5)
Worker something (0, 4)
Tech II ?Disease? (0, 0)

Or we could explore drawing more cards with Black, and see where that leads:
Summon + make skeleton + Javelineer, drawing until Nether Drain in hand (min 3 gold left)
Jaina hits Glaxx
Zane, use Nether drain to give him 2 levels, max him, pushing Brave Knight (3, 2)
etc.

One thing to keep in mind with any plan is that we donā€™t want to leave any valuable thing sitting around with 1 hp.

Oh riiiiight. Traffic Director is untargetable.

Alternative alternative: Max Jaina, she shoots Glaxx, Bombaster kills Glaxx? That is a bit more expensive on the Red side (costs 6 gold, less if we fish for Nether Drain), but then we still have the Twilight Baron hanging around.

Meh, this plan seems questionable due to having another maxband hero hanging around, and also due to the difficulties weā€™d have killing the Brave Knight and TD.

BLACK NEXT HAND
Skeleton Javelineer
Skeletal Archery
Pestering Haunt
Sacrifice the Weak
Summon Skeletons

BLACK DECK
Thieving Imp
Deteriorate
Poisonblade Rogue
Nether Drain

RED NEXT HAND
Gunpoint Taxman
Careless Musketeer
Charge

RED DECK
Nautical Dog
Bloodrage Ogre
Pillage
Scorch
Makeshift Rambaster
Lobber

8 gold each

Soā€¦
Garth makes a bunch of skeletons, and sacs them until he gets a Nether Drain (black down to somewhere between 3 and 7 gold)
Jaina and Bombaster trade with Brave Knight
Zane, max him with the help of Nether Drain (black 2-6 gold, red 3 gold)
Push the Glaxx to Lookout, dealing it 1 damage
Twilight Baron attacks TD & overpowers Glaxx
Deteriorate Fading Argo if possible
Zane kills Fading Argo, red draws a card
Garth pokes the Tower for 1
Make workers (Careless musketteer for Red, Poisonblade Rogue for Black (or Imp, or Archery)) (1-5 gold, 2 gold)
Gunpoint Taxman (1-5 gold, 0 gold)
Black will have 5 + 1 (garth makes skeleton) - 1 Nether Drain - 1 worker = 4 cards in hand (or 5 if both skeletons from Summon Skeletons were sacrificed, or 1 less if Deteriorate was used)
Black plays some number of units / Summon Skeletons, depending on how much gold/cards he has left.
Black discards 3, draws 5 (most of which will be post-reshuffle)
Red discards 2, draws 4 (none of which will be post-reshuffle)
