I’ve always had trouble dealing with Present, and on top of that, I have to worry about Nature Reclaims taking my Garrisons out of the game. This might be the strongest counter to my build I’ve faced so far this tourney, though I do have Free Speech as an option to deal with Reclaims / Temporal Distortion. Luckily, I get to be P1 and I have a strong opening hand.
Hey there
I left Europe to the US this week, playing another cool cardgame IRL in Roseville MN. So consider I’m off Codex 'til monday/Tuesday, depending on how exhausted I’ll be from jet-lag !
Just looked it up, and yeah, that’s where FFG headquarters is located, and apparently they have a gaming center as well. Maybe I’ll check it out someday if I notice an event I’m interested in.
I’m live and well, but had a hard week; jet-lag hit me quite hard, and I had some late work to finish.
I’m up to proceed now; yet if it delays the tournament too much, I’ll forfeit and let whoever has to face @cstick
Indeed I was at the FFG Center, to attend Game of Thrones World Championships, with other French and Euro fellows. It was quite exciting to tell the truth ! If ever you happen to live not too far to the center, it’s a nice place for casual play and tournaments both.

Just as EricF, Nekoatl plays mono-finesse as P1, so I think I’ll go for argonauts for the very same reason: Discord slays any LB setup, while Nimble Fencer and hero agression hit BC way too hard. With no Arrest, Argonauts should endure loads of damage, wand Graveyard should be safe as General Hammer isn’t a great pick even against black. I hope I can set up before Oni slays everything…
Shame the Imp took Wither. Midband and Jandra kill would expose Oni to death by Nether Drain, which would be a disaster, so that’s out. Seeding Garrisons in case Technician forces a reshuffle.
2x Argo or Graveyard ? Too bad I drew all 3 the same turn. Maybe I should skip worker and build a board, but then I'll have trouble affording my tech IIs. I will skip Graveyard, as my units shouldn't die this soon, Nekoatl favoring board presence over agression up 'til now. Teching tech IIs as I won't have much to do with my gold on next turn save teching up, and I can't prevent reshuffle save playing Jav + Grave and workering StW, which seems quite bad.
Drawing Hyperion now isn't that bad, seeing Nekoatl's board. Tricycloid will be very necessary ! Teching 2x TD, hoping he didn't early tech Free Speech, so I can use it soon (luckily next turn, if topdeck from draw/Garth's death, or if Garth survives and uses midband) and take the momentum. After that I'll stick to units, unless I find a reliable way to deal with Quince.

Would really have liked to draw a Free Speech, or at least a Garrison to maybe fetch a Free Speech. This is kinda bad. I’ll probably need to sacrifice a hero and swap to Quince next turn. Pushing a bit to kill Garth so he can’t Nether Drain his way to pulling a free unit out of the discard pile.

Hmmm, I wonder what Nekoatl drew, to play so few cards… Good news. Topdecking TD from techn was lucky but just killing both heroes seems already quite a good swing for me. I prefer not teching too many spells, as with only Quince alive, Nekoatl will probably end up teching Free Speeches, if he didn’t already. Teching some haste to value out tempo. In this situation, Quince + Free Speech would cost him half income, with no effect on my strong Tech IIs, so I guess I can play around even if he does cast it.
Tech II down, and both Garrisons in hand. Yay. At least the Free Speech are split. It’s probably not enough to save me at this point, but it’s all I can do.

What hurts most is losing Sparkshot, as I've no way to get through this patrol… Let's build some board presence and wait for a Tricycloid to arrive (very likely on next turn, with both Hyperions on the board).
After I drew (so a bit late !): I wonder if instead of playing Imp, I could play Graveyard + Worker and head to Tech III - Balance. I feel T-rexes may help here, as Blue has not may options against strong Tech IIIs. If Nekoatl manages to wall me off again on next turn, I might consider this.
