OKay vir/prynn… Both let me see the same number, but I have to skip a worker if I Vir first (and I dont have the gold to swap afterwards anyway… If I high role the 1/3, I Pretty sure that sets me up to win really nicely, but if I miss and they keep hitting AoWs this could get really ugly really quickly.

Huston, we have a problem (also they could have killed my nullcraft with everthing else, but they mucked up)
I didnt have it hand, and i didnt want to draw, I had 5 cards in deck and they set up a nice rememberer + seer combo, I didnt want to accidently draw one. With vir having to be out of action the following turn (and no longer having the damage to break it) I took the gamble and drew, and it paid off.
It is but not unbeatable (it might also be the only codex that Ive spent a lot of time developing/figuring out. It suits me quite well). The first game I exploited your slow development to rush tech 2 before you could respond. The second I used a tech/game plan I developed specifically to counter tech 2 peace, which it does pretty well (at least, better than I could get tech 2 Future to work, which was my previous best answer).
The point being, I brought things from my specs which targeted your game plans weakness. My strengths against your weakness generally ends up in my favour. What you need to do, is figure out your opponents weakness, and how you can apply your strengths to that
To be fair, the point was to try and play a combo of decks I hadn’t tried… Not to try and play a cut throat game to win. This isn’t a tournament, so playing to counter me specifically strikes me as distasteful
Shadow’s referring to teching counters within a match, depending on what you think the opponent’s strategy is, not counter-picking the deck. He usually plays Purple, regardless of what or whom he’s playing against.
As charnel mouse says, I play purple a lot, not because its my best codex, but because its pretty much the only spec combo that I found fits my play style really well and that I enjoy (unfortunately, this leads to me playing it a lot, which leads to it being my best codex).
Im sorry about the miscommunication and I hope that you find our games enjoyable, but if your looking to play against someone who isnt looking to win, Im not that person. To me, Codex is a game of adaption and strategy, to ask someone to reduces the game to one that is far less interesting, and far more like a game of solitaire.
On the contrary, to win is to learn little, while you can learn a lot from a loss. When I started play I would also lose all the time, and afterwards I would go through the games and look to see where I lost (and asking people for advice/where I had gone wrong) to think about what I could better. Codex is a game of skill far more so than most other games like it, and while randomness is still an element, it does mean that there is a steep learning curve before new players start winning.
Im happy to keep playing if you are (I’ll be sticking with with mono-purple what ever you pick) but if you want to play with someone else thats fine. If you want any advice etc on what to do differently, Im happy to do that as well.
I have lost quite a few matches and still left feeling good. By reading your response I can tell that you don’t really understand what made these games rather pointless for me, and I don’t particularly feel like you care to.
I’ll look forward to playing you in tourney, but I am going to be playing most my PBF matches for fun.
Edit: and playing for fun doesn’t mean not playing to win. It means playing outside your element.
I perfectly understand that, sorry for not communicating clearly. But we are different people, and for me it is more fun to play/refine something I know. I do set outside my element sometimes, but its about exploration and seeing if there are other playstyles I enjoy (and hence forth play a lot of) then the act of exploration itself being fun. If your having fun exploring, testing out different combos and different ways of playing etc then more power to you
And hey, some of my favourite games have been where I’ve losed. A close back and forth match is much more fun than a stompy one in either direction.
