Thoughts

Shame I couldn’t fit Jail or Reputable Newsman into my opening rotation, but as P1, I’ll take raw threat over control. Splitting between 1g Spectral Hound and 3g Brave Knight to compromise between gold efficiency and reliability. Unfortunately, no way to play both Jail and another body. Trying to decide if I’m more worried about Tiny Basilisk or Argonaut. Probably Argonaut? Very little in my codex does 4-5 damage to knock one out of squad leader. No Stewardess of the Undone, which is nice. :slight_smile:

Considered hitting your Tech 1 for two damage & hoping for a hammer (or clear swing with Oni) to finish it, but don’t want to risk letting you untap with two soldiers and playing Battle Suits.

Thoughts

You are dreadfully low on cards in hand. You can Doom Grasp Onimaru, but it’ll cost you. I don’t see you having a blocker to prevent me from wiping your board on my turn. Mox is disabled, Bigby can clear someone, and I’ve even got a Hammer to make sure your Tech II doesn’t come online. If you don’t try to build it, you don’t have a way of dealing with double Roc. I think this is a winning position for me.

I could play Quince and do something cute with a mirror Roc if you don’t break it, but you could block with Nullcraft. Taking Jurisdiction so I can Free Speech you anyway.

I think – hmm. I’m not entirely sure what you did wrong, besides not having a good way to deal with illusions & especially flyers. I almost want to say Fading Argonaut turn 1 would have been better than Nullcraft? I would have played Jail instead of Arresting it, not sure if that’s actually better for you.

Garth is a really strong T1/T2 hero, but it seems like without any 1-drops in the purple starter, he loses a lot of potential. Geiger seems kind of subpar next to Garth. Newsman would have blocked 2s if you didn’t have Now!, though, so that was a good tech for you.

Just for future reference, arrest is a debuff spell and nullcraft can’t be the target of a buff or debuff, so you are not allowed to arrest it

Thanks for pointing this out, and apologies to hardy for missing that – that would have completely changed the game in your favor. (I guess I mentally bucket “stun” as different kind of thing than a debuff? Hmm, Grappling Hook isn’t a debuff, but Appel Stomp is… and also Community Service? That one I did not see coming.)

community service does not count, cuz you pick the card from the hand/discard not the field, so you could pick even an untargeatable unit (from hand/discard). Not to mention that spending 5g for a 2 gold unit would make one shed tears of blood XD.

really? i didn’t feel so badly equipped against those threats. i even didn’t tech sentry, because i thought nullcraft and now! would be enough to deal with spectral aven in the short run. tricycloid would have helped me against illusions and wandering mimic (smuggled in via temporal distortion) could have helped with flyers… at least that were my intentions.

i think it was a mistake to build the tower in turn 3. i probably should have floated and then go for tech 2 in turn 4. you probably would have killed geiger without the tower and i would have been able to play nature reclaims to get rid of the jail… i also could have traded geiger and Mox for spectral hound in turn 4, still get to cast nature reclaims and defend only with Midori OR i should have skipped upgrading battle suits and stay with a larger hand… anyway it was probably too late at this point of the game, though :slight_smile:

…so i gotta prepare for mono red. let’s throw in that mox right away to deal with constant attacks…
