My Thoughts
As expected, this is a very silly idea and I feel silly just for attempting it lol. With all that float and me skipping a worker (and probably a DS setup), I have virtually no hope of a Rewind here helping me… Maybe I get Vir max now, delay the rewind, and hope that I can punish heroes next turn?!? Alternatively I spose I could try to OS Oni and just have Vir… do something? Maybe Double Time is actually the answer? This is such a harder matchup than I thought!

Rewind being super expensive to hit AND not actually destroying your units means can’t really pull it off in the way you want. I also pose next to no threat in the meantime which doesn’t make for much use…
Damn this is tough! Feels like I really have to read whether stuff like CS or Tax Collector (would have sunk this plan several times) and tbh feels like you’re kind of messing around with meme strats and it still works. Perhaps this game going Double Time + Promise of Payment might have given me just enough of a window to sneak in, Purple’s heroes are really weak though. Such a stark contrast to playing Black against Blue. So hard to generate the early tempo necessary to take advantage, I just can’t output enough attack damage fast enough.
Doesn’t help that Newsman on 2 blocks a lot. Maybe double Argonaut and a tech1 spam is the answer, I’m not really sure though
I think in this game early Assimilate Jail followed by Argo and Stewie to press board hard would have been a good option. Thats what I feared the most.
Blue has more options and is more comfortable in the match up so Purple will have to find one right answer out of many that can go wrong which is really tough.
Not sure about Double Time. Never seen it in play so can’t really speak to it. Could be an answer tho maybe.
Interesting, there wasn’t a single killing in this game
I’ve lost a lot of this MU in the past, but here is what i remember. Argo isn’t good cuz between mirrors and manuf truth, you just give the opponent a bit hitter. Battle suits is great cuz it makes your troops stronger than their mirrors and as tech I i would play mostly stewardess/Kotc/seers to remove annoying newsman, pop aven/mirrors and have a solid 3/3 unit, Kotc for draw engine, no gold cost, play aroud jail, and seets to hasten the KOTC arrival. This is what i remember. FWIW, it’s still very hard for purple sice present gets mirrored/stolen, past is slow, and future lacks haste pressure. Also, purple heroes are really weak.
Yeah based on your techs that could have worked, it’s just so hard to know that’s what you’re up to. I don’t get hand peeks from LS or anything and it seems like you can be pretty unpredictable and still be successful unless I call the exact right shot.
Agreed except then Max Oni could be an issue so Purple might need OS take up one of the tech spot or not. That would be a judgment call in each different game.
I try to switch things around game to game because even the strongest options can be countered in Codex if too predictable (with some exceptions). Usually having two different good options will force the guesswork. Three or more is just outstanding. I think Blue has the edge in that regard in this match up.
