OK, pretty dumb opening move by me, just gave up $3 and 2 cards (Monk, Smoker) for $1 and 2 cards (Deteriorate, Haunt). Of course should have just gone with the straightforward Monk + Grave.
On top of that, I’ve drawn neither Tech1 in my T3 hand.
EDIT: Redid the redraw-reshuffle after correcting the mistake of not moving a worker – and again got neither T1 in my T3 hand !
Weird draw, the only unit in hand is Smoker. Not too bad, though, Grave’s sparkshot with Grappling Hook allows me to kill 2 of his minions, and I can sneak in Tech 2 Anarchy build. Next turn I’m threatening to use Grave’s sword on his Garth to give free levels to a new Hero; or to bring out and max my Garth to summon a stealthy Anarchy unit to break his Graveyard. Also both Bone Collectors in next hand for use any excess $$.

With Zane’s max to help clear Skellies, I get to kill one of Garth, Graveyard or Tower. Going for the Tower, so the Anarchy units remain a stealthy threat. Grave is vulnerable to a Tricycloid rune, though think Hyperions are more likely here. Teching a second Monkey and a Gunship.

This is getting complicated. I can build Tech3 and put Zane, Steam Tank and a 1-drop in patrol. If he has STW he gets a really strong turn breaking my Tech3, but I think is just short of breaking Tech2 as well. If he doesn’t have STW he likely still breaks Tech3, but I’m looking in decent shape. Alternative is not to build Tech3, and play Disguised Monkey (destroys Graveyard), Steam Tank, Garth and Skeleton. But with a reasonable hand (eg Hyperion) he has the firepower to break through and break my Tech2. Both look difficult for me, but I think the Tech3 route has better chances.
Hoping he doesn’t have STW…
(Though the rule is – when your Black starter opponent needs Deteriorate or STW, they always get it ! )
