So this is cheap.dec. The goal is to get Past+Tech Lab (Blood) or vice-versa, and get Slow Time Generator working. Blue Starter and Cadets, Gliders, Shimmer Rays, and Crashbarrows should be enough to put me at an advantage. (If I can make it happen. Hah!)

Iāve lost many a game to an early max Oni, so one Flame Arrow for the chance to stop that from happening. I like Tax Collector, heās not huge stat-wise, but stealing a gold could really help me out and a 2/3 body is just fine.

Could have Man. Truth to trade Newsman with BI to get back to less expensive Tech I. But that still costs me 1. And a 2-cost unit. And an additional card. So yeah. I just bit the bullet and paid for my Tech building.
I drew one Cadet (great!). I may Lawful Search to try to draw into the next. It would be really nice to play Tech II, Tech Lab, and 2x Cadet in one turn.

Felt like a good turn. Flame Arrow is expensive, but you get some results thatās for sure. Killing Oni makes me feel very relaxed though Jaina is never really āsafeā with her constant 3 HP. Iām not sure what heās up to, but decided in the interests of making Manufactured Truth weaker, Iāll just be teching in bureaucrats for a while.

Wow, well so much for my control game! Shoddy Glider was a great choice because he saw me leaning on Jaina, gotta say Props to the Pirate for that one. Where do we go from here? Well, Wandering Mimic will be good eventually and Iād love to have some situational ways to say āNo!ā, hence the Momentās Peace and Injunction. Though the way this game has turned, Iām not sure theyāll show up in a timely manner. Nevertheless! I am now at the mercy of my draws for choosing which hero to play, once I can get enough money to feel comfortable doing so!

If she has exactly two time runes, she CAN use her max level ability to trash a unit. If she does, she then immediately dies because of hanving no fading runes, then the trashed unit returns to play. This does not count as ādies from fadingā on her middle ability, because that only triggers if fading itself removed the last time rune. ā Sirlin
Still a nice turn, but if youād like to make any changes feel free!
Iām going to go on the record as saying thatās the dumbest ruling Iāve read on these forums. The only reason she could die from not having time runes is because the fading ability says she dies when she doesnāt have time runes. So itās the fading ability thatās killing her. So sheās dying from the fading ability. Thatās some seriously twisted logic there to say sheās dying because of the fading ability but not from the fading ability.
Hrmmm. I still think Iām in slightly better shape with your Tech II broken, even if Iāve had to put a buttload of cash into a dead Prynn for it, and at least this way Iām not giving you any levels. Letās play it out.
Yeah, I mean it was a convoluted turn of events, but the results were still pretty good. Breaking Tech II with a jail in play and only a 1/1 to attack is prettttty good.

[details=Thoughts]
Well, his turn was nasty. I think my response is decent. Iām glad he went for tech II instead of jail! Jail is nasty and will slow down his aggression. I like killing Drakk! That is a relief that he canāt break jail, max Drakk, then start getting hasty. Crashbarrows are still really bad for me, but letās face it - thatās been the situation all game. As such, Iād rather get a card out of Bigbyās contraption-fueled death. Maybe heāll play some Past units? Those seem so much tamer than the blood onesā¦ [/details]
I think the whole problem is that fading is based on a Magic ability. In Magic there werenāt many ways to spend fading counters on creatures, the creature was just slowly going to wink out of existence. Some enchantments (like upgrades) were printed where you could remove fading counters for cool effects - resource denial, creature control, hand denial. I think Prynn is based on these enchantments, but of course she acts much more like a creature (or unit) than she does an enchantment (or upgrade). The only way for her to die naturally from Fading is for you to start your turn with only 1 Fading counter on her and then remove it and her from play. Iāve personally never seen this happen. She gets a counter on attacking and youāre almost always better off attacking.
Maybe there are some narrow plays where you force your at-parity opponent to kill Prynn, who is not patrolling, instead of going after base/tech because they donāt want to skip their discard/draw? I dunno, seems super-niche. Maybe at some point in testing she only had 3 fading counters? Then you could bring her out, max her, banish something, and leave her there like a ticking time-bomb? @ClanNatioy Do you happen to know?
As far as I saw and can remember the only thing that changed about Prynn was a wording change. So I didnāt see any game play related changes to Prynn.
For sure somebody tried that in playtesting and said itās the dumbest thing in the world that the discard/draw ability fires in that case and they just sought a ruling to confirm that was too powerful.
I think itās not too powerful, but thatās just my opinion.
The way it works is completely non-intuitive so the only reason to ban it that I can think of is power level.
