Hmmmmm, I wonder what he had in hand that he didn’t try to kill the Traffic Director. Let’s see, maybe it felt like a waste to play Sacrifice the Weak against my lowly unit. Deteriorate he may have had but couldn’t have played. I don’t think he had Dark Pact because he probably would have played it. He must not have had Fencers, which I would have expected. What are other Vandy spells? Shadow Blade, Soul Stone, and Metamorphosis. The last is out because he wouldn’t gain nearly enough from it, and that probably explains the heroes’ hall. I guess that leaves Shadow Blade and Soul Stone. Shadow Blade is also cleanly blocked by TD whereas I don’t think he’s going for a board that benefits from Soul Stones. Hmmm, I don’t even know what to do with all of this conjecture! D: Maybe I should block Shadow Blade with the Newsman so that he has to use Sacrifice the Weak and give up his Javelineer? That’s probably better than being Shadow Bladed.

I don’t feel bad about this arrangement but before I have Macciatus and Eyes of the Chancellor on board, it’s pretty fragile. If he can destroy my Tech II, I’m in trouble since my next hand will have nothing usable in it. And if he does Shadow Blade the Newsman, I’m losing one of my precious cards anyway.

Okay, that worked out nicely, I think. I’ve made it so he can’t use Vandy without levelling her. He can maxband Vandy to buff the Imp and target the Flagbearer to kill it and then kill the Stewardess and Calamandra with the Imp and Vandy but that costs him a lot of gold and he’s not doing much else. I suspect that’s fine since he just invests a lot of gold in it.
Not having deteriorate hurts, as I could slay Cal with it. I'll keep on defense then. Graveyard should help; I hesitated with Haunt + Tower instead of Graveyard + midband, but the latter offers more agressive options and seems decent as a defense, as i've no need to fear another Stewardess on next turn. Arrest would hurt but I've no good option against it anyway…

Let’s see, we can blow our entire hand to destroy the Graveyard, which I think may be necessary, especially with the Nimble Fencers. That would mean I’d need to midband Calamandra and then discard two cards. That would cost me 2 gold in total. In turn, he can kill the Stewardess with the Imp and Fencer. The Imp would die, but the Fencer would survive. I think if he goes that route, he would probably maxband Vandy instead and that means he’ll target the Flagbearer and probably the Imp. The Flagbearer will die. The Imp can then kill the Stewardess. The Fencer can kill the Reputable Newsman and Vandy can kill Calamandra. If I maxband Calamandra, he would have to use both the Fencer and Vandy to kill Calamandra and let the Newsman survive. Hmmmm, I think I’ll have to maxband Calamandra. Or maybe forgo a worker entirely and throw up the Building Inspector as another obstacle. We’re gonna forgo a worker. Calamandra can help me kinda resolve my hand issues since she can get things onto the field without cards.

Hmmmmmm, I didn’t lose Calamandra so that’s cool. I want to snatch a Spectral Tiger but if he has Deteriorate, he can remove it relatively easily by maxbanding Vandy to target the Flagbearer and then using whatever he buffs plus a skeleton to kill the Tiger. I think building a Tower is better than building Tech II at this point since I’m far from being able to take advantage of Tech II units yet.
