I don’t like my pure unit options, so I’m putting Quince in front as schmuck bait (I hope). If Onimaru kills him, I bring in Grave, MT the mirror into an Aven, and hit Onimaru for 4 flying damage. Unless he maxbands, but then I get to play Tech I cards first, and I can still bring him down to 1 health, then stick cheap Hounds or Partners in patrol. If he doesn’t kill Quince… I kill him with Avens anyway. Let’s see what happens.

The Aven complicates things, I can Arrest it to proceed, but it requires skipping Tech I, and using Onimaru if I want to kill the Inspector too. Which I do. That means no quick-midband Grave, so I’ll stick Onimaru in Elite in case James drew double Fencers.
What to tech? I’d like to try a General’s Hammer, to help Aven take out a tech building. Elite Traing’s nice on Soldiers, but that’s asking for a Discord. Maybe a Boot Camp in case of Hounds, I don’t have anything myself I can buff. That’s slow, though, and I’d like to quickly take advantage of wiping his board. The alternative is two Hammers. I’d draw 4 cards from a deck of 9, so chance to draw a Hammer is 8/18 with one teched, 13/18 with two. I’d quite to to Hammer next turn, when there’s no Tech II up yet… OK, let’s risk teching two Hammers.
… OK, got a Hammer. Let’s see if double Fencers arrive and ruin everything.

Bold plays are what I need to come back from this - surprise army from the maxband, and preventing whatever Oni spell he was going to play next turn seems pretty good. Anti-truth Techs coming out. I will need some luck to win this now, but that’s OK!

No Roc from the Lawful Search, but it lets I know I need to deal with another Starlet and an Arrest.
Skip worker, Tower, Macciatus, Traffic Director. Gives me 1/1, 1/1, 1/2, 1/2, 1/3 hero to block and protect Macciatus, backed up by a tower, something will get Arrested.
Skip worker, maxband Quince, Macciatus, copy with a Mirror. Gives me 1/1, 2/3, 4/4, 1/5 hero to block and protect the real Macciatus, something will get Arrested, less patrollers mean less sparkshot damage but the 4/4 disappears if Quince dies. Ah, but the illusion just dies because of the legendary rule, never mind.
Worker, Macciatus, Traffic Director, Reputable Newsman. Gives me 1/1, 1/2, 1/2, 1/1, 0/3, 1/3 hero to block Macciauts, blocking Arrest. Stick a 1/1 in SQL and that’s a full patrol with more than 1 health each.
Not doing much return damage, but I’m just trying to survive to get Tech II illusions down.

Losing Macciatus is painful, but with Onimaru dead, unless James has teched in Hallucination, I should be free from targeted abilities for a turn. I could either:
get the Rocs out, plus a tower, or plus a hero and a worker. Gets my fliers going when I don’t think James can instantly remove them, but his Tech I staying up means he could have drawn back into units to take down my patrol, and could mirror them too.
use the Hammers to knock down James’s Tech I again, with 3 gold for a tower, or a worker and Grave. Makes it difficult for James to attack with much, due to no Tech 0 hasted units. He could just make two mirrored Fencers, and kill the Soldier and a hero, but he’d have to skip a worker again. Discord could also be a problem, since it leaves the Soldier defenceless if I don’t also build a tower. Unless I just stick him in Elite, and assume he’ll kill a hero with the Fencer and Quince instead. I think that’s fine, I can stick Onimaru in front, and have Grave in the back, ready to throw a sword if I don’t get a good hand.
I think I’m just going to take out his Tech I, the difference in worker counts means that time is on my side. Workering a Roc sucks, but I’m nearly in Tech III territory.
… Oof, bad draw. Let’s see what I get from Technician.

Griffons incoming - not sure there is much I can do about it at the moment though. I will have arrest or bootcamp to pop something, but I am expecting a macchiatus anyway. Probs going to be GG.

Glad I didn’t play those Rocs. Roc and Tiger in hand in nice, I’m going to try to draw a Gryphon too, I could just about afford them all and MT the Director…
… Meh, drew a Hammer. However, I can play the Newsman to block either the Lawful Search or the Arrest, and stop my illusions from being popped. Then there’s 2 gold left over I can bring in another blocker with, or MT something with the Traffic Director.
… Strong next hand if I survive. Hope he doesn’t draw into an Appel Stomp.
GG! I used a lawful search to look at your hand and saw those Gryphons and Macciatus, at which point messing around copying the STarlet I drew for defence seemed a bit futile A decider?
